Although not as booming as in March, the electric motorcycle market remains quite "hot" as many brands simultaneously launch promotional programs and discounts to stimulate demand.
Starting with Honda, the motorcycle manufacturer with the largest market share in Vietnam, they are offering a promotion until the end of July for the ICON e: model. Specifically, this compact electric motorcycle is being offered with a 5 million VND cash discount at authorized HEAD dealerships.
Previously, in April, the manufacturer adjusted the list price of this model, reducing it by 6 million VND to approximately 20.9-21.3 million VND (10% VAT). With the latest promotion applied, the actual selling price of the Honda ICON e: is reduced to around 16 million VND.

This price is quite competitive compared to other electric motorbikes for students on the market, such as the VinFast Flazz (16.9 million VND). However, the above price of the Japanese model does not include the battery pack, which costs 9 million VND.
Besides direct price reductions, Honda Vietnam also offers installment payment plans with preferential interest rates starting from just 0.55% per month, which can be applied concurrently with the discount program. Through this program, the Japanese automaker hopes to bring the Honda ICON e: electric motorcycle closer to Vietnamese consumers.
Besides offering discounts to stimulate demand for existing models, Honda is also preparing to expand its product range with plans to launch the e: CUV (currently only available for lease) and UC3 models. Simultaneously, the company is deploying a system of charging and battery swapping stations for electric motorcycles at its HEAD dealerships.
Another Japanese motorcycle brand offering discounts on electric bikes is Yamaha. This May, the company is applying a cash discount of 15 million VND on the NEO model, bringing the price down to around 34 million VND.

This price reduction, equivalent to about 30% of the original price, was implemented by Yamaha several months prior to increase the appeal of the Yamaha NEO series. This strategy was considered necessary given that the listed price of the NEO was as high as 49 million VND, quite high compared to the general market.
With purely electric motorcycle brands like VinFast and Yadea continuously expanding their market share, promotional programs are a necessary solution to help traditional motorcycle manufacturers like Honda and Yamaha increase their competitiveness in the electric vehicle segment.
