This afternoon, September 21, typhoon Ragasa is about 430km east of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the storm center is level 14-15 (150-183km/h), gusting to level 17.

From the weather applications, this storm has a round eye, a dense cloud disk accompanied by violent thunderstorms. The circulation of this storm is quite large, covering a large area of ​​the sea.

It is forecasted that when entering the East Sea, although far away, the storm will attract strong southwest winds, causing heavy rain in the Southern region and the Central Highlands of our country. The North will have widespread rain.

The meteorological agency said the storm could reach its peak intensity with winds of about level 16-17, gusting above level 17.

Philippines: Typhoon Ragasa strengthens into super typhoon

The Philippine Meteorological and Hydrological Administration said on the morning of September 21, tropical storm Ragasa had strengthened into a super typhoon, with wind speeds of 185km/h, and gusts of up to 230km/h.

According to the announcement at 11:00 local time (ie 10:00 Vietnam time), Typhoon Ragasa is located 555km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan and is moving west at a speed of 15km/h. The storm is forecast to approach or make landfall in Batanes province or Babuyan archipelago on September 22.

The agency warned that Ragasa is likely to bring heavy rains, strong winds and form the strongest tropical cyclone. Residents are also advised to be alert to the risk of rising sea levels with peak tides of more than 3 meters in the next 48 hours in low-lying or uninhabited coastal villages in the areas of Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.
