A nostalgic Hanoi life during the war against America and the subsidy period in the 1960s and 1970s is emotionally recounted in valuable photos by photographer Trinh Hai.
15 photos of this 92-year-old artist are being displayed along with more than 50 other photos of Hanoi by 17 of his colleagues from many generations in the photo exhibition Hanoi in Me on the shore of Hoan Kiem Lake (located opposite King Le Temple on Le Thai To Street).
The exhibition opened on September 28 and will last until October 29. This is an activity organized by the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board in coordination with the Photography - Journalism Association (Hanoi Art Photography Association) to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the capital's takeover.
The work "Party Newspaper" comes to readers every day by artist Trinh Hai
Hanoi in the mobile store era
The organizers hope to share beautiful images of Hanoi through the years, from the war, subsidy period to renovation and international integration, taken by journalists from the 1960s to the present.
Among them, the photos of photographer Trinh Hai moved many viewers when they saw a Hanoi of more than half a century ago, poor and difficult because of war, but also full of affection and love.
In those days, the streets of Hanoi were full of bicycles. The main means of transportation for people was bicycles.
In Trinh Hai's photo of the Party Newspaper coming to readers every day , people see many men walking Soviet and Chinese bicycles, wearing pith helmets or cloth hats, holding Nhan Dan newspaper in their hands.
Socialist Labor Builds Thong Nhat Park by Trinh Hai
The photo of Socialist Laborers Building Thong Nhat Park also shows a row of bicycles of people dredging mud to build the park.
Looking at the photo, the public not only understands the history of the special park built from the public labor of Hanoians after 1954 to convey the dream of the country's early reunification.
Viewers also learn about a time when many large projects of the country were built in this way.
In Hanoi, there is Thong Nhat Park, and in several provinces of the Red River Delta, there is the Bac Hung Hai irrigation project, which has been marked by thousands of hands of Northern youth...
Once upon a time, many great things were built from the strength of such a collective.

And Hanoi in winter 1972
The photo "Air Defense - Air Force Battlefield" not only shows viewers the courage and fighting spirit of the capital's people during the 12 days and nights of the Dien Bien Phu in the Air Battle in December 1972.
In that photo, people can see that behind a brave fighting Hanoi is a beautiful and poetic Hanoi with a charming Opera House located among the green trees.
