In the first quarter of 2025, Xiaomi recorded record revenue, marking a strong step forward as the company accelerates development in strategic areas such as electric vehicles (EVs) and semiconductors.
According to the financial report released on May 28, Xiaomi's first-quarter revenue reached 111.2 billion yuan (equivalent to 16.46 billion USD ), up 47.4% over the same period last year, surpassing analysts' expectations of 109 billion yuan ( 15.13 billion USD ). Net profit reached 10.68 billion yuan ( 1.48 billion USD ), also the highest level ever.
Of which, the smartphone and smart device segment is still the company's main source of revenue, bringing in 94.7 billion yuan ( 13.14 billion USD ), up 22.8% over the same period in 2024. In addition, new projects such as smart electric vehicles and AI also brought in 18.6 billion yuan in revenue ( 2.58 billion USD ), of which electric vehicles accounted for 97%. However, Xiaomi still suffered a loss of 500 million yuan ( 69.4 million USD ) from these projects.
“This year's first quarter results reflect Xiaomi's most outstanding business strength ever,” said Lu Weibing, President and Senior Member of Xiaomi.
The Beijing-based company continued its impressive growth momentum after posting revenue of 365.9 billion yuan ( $50.8 billion ) in 2024, up 35% from the previous year. Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun called it “the strongest result in the company’s history.”
The Chinese company is also stepping up investment in key areas with high growth potential such as electric vehicles and semiconductors. Earlier this month, Xiaomi began mass production of a 3nm system-on-a-chip (SoC) called XRing O1, which is expected to power its next-generation smartphones and tablets.
With this advanced technology, Xiaomi becomes the fourth company in the world to mass produce 3nm SoC chips, after Qualcomm, MediaTek and Apple. This is considered an important step in China's technology self-sufficiency strategy.
Xiaomi’s smartphone business also maintained its growth momentum. According to data from research firm Canalys , Xiaomi held the position of the world’s third-largest smartphone maker in April, with a 14% market share and 3% shipment growth year-on-year, behind only Samsung and Apple.
