The digital travel platform Agoda has just announced a list of "emerging" destinations that are attracting Vietnamese tourists this summer. Travelers are gravitating towards lesser-known areas, from beaches and mountains to cultural experiences.
The most popular "emerging" domestic destinations for Vietnamese tourists in the summer of 2026 are Ly Son (Quang Ngai), Mai Chau ( Phu Tho ), Mang Den (Quang Ngai)... In addition, Cebu (Philippines), Kaohsiung (Taiwan-China), or Barcelona (Spain)... are among the most searched names for overseas travel destinations for Vietnamese people.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam, shared: "Vietnamese tourists are increasingly interested in new and unique destinations that offer profound experiences and better suit their individual preferences and needs."
Ly Son, Mang Den (Quang Ngai), Ninh Binh , and Mai Chau are prominent destinations for summer 2026.
Leading the list of emerging domestic destinations is Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai province. The number of tourists interested in this destination is projected to grow significantly in 2026 compared to last year. With its crystal-clear waters, majestic natural landscapes, colorful coral reefs, and peaceful lifestyle, Ly Son is becoming an attractive alternative for those seeking a different experience from crowded islands like Phu Quoc, Phu Quy, or Vinh Hy.
Ninh Binh also recorded stable growth in search volume compared to the same period last year, thanks to the harmonious combination of natural landscapes, heritage sites, and cultural tourism. Iconic landmarks such as the ancient capital of Hoa Lu and Tam Coc-Bich Dong continue to attract tourists with their majestic limestone mountains, caves, and winding rivers; meanwhile, the province's diverse cultural and spiritual tourism products further enhance the visitor experience.
Home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex and a dense network of historical relics, Ninh Binh affirms its position as an ideal destination for those wishing to explore nature combined with cultural experiences.

It's no longer an unfamiliar name, Mai Chau, a mountainous region in Phu Tho province, is increasingly popular with tourists as it meets all the requirements of a mountain getaway: convenient transportation and complete isolation from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Ideal for those seeking a peaceful mountain retreat as an alternative to Sa Pa, Mai Chau captivates with its beautiful terraced rice fields, ethnic culture, and traditional stilt houses amidst tranquil countryside, becoming a top choice for relaxing short getaways from Hanoi.
A new name has appeared on the list - Kon Von Kle, also known as Mang Den, showing the growing appeal of the Central Highlands region. More and more tourists are seeking places with cool climates and nature-immersive holidays.
Recently, Mang Den has been seen as an ideal alternative to the bustling Da Lat, with its vast pine forests, majestic mountain scenery, and slow, peaceful pace of life. Its appearance on Agoda's rankings shows that Vietnamese travelers are increasingly open to lesser-known highland destinations offering fresh air, a connection with nature, and a genuine sense of discovery.
Tay Ninh has also officially joined this list of favorite destinations thanks to its tourism development in recent years. With its advantageous location near Ho Chi Minh City, the famous Ba Den Mountain spiritual tourism complex, and a comprehensively developed infrastructure, Tay Ninh is increasingly attracting a large number of southern tourists for pilgrimage, cultural experiences, and the exploration of diverse ecotourism.
"For this year's summer vacation, tourists are trending towards destinations that combine natural beauty, culture, and a spirit of exploration, from pristine islands and heritage centers to highlands with mild climates," said Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam.
New international destinations are coming under scrutiny.
Besides the domestic tourism market, Agoda data shows that Vietnamese travelers are also actively seeking out more distant international destinations when planning their mid-year trips.
Cebu Island in the Philippines has seen the strongest growth in tourism searches. The island's appeal stems from its beautiful beaches, diving opportunities, diverse island tours, and convenient access to other parts of the Philippines, making Cebu an ideal destination for extended tropical vacations in the region.

Other emerging destinations reflect the growing demand for diverse international experiences among Vietnamese travelers. Located in southern Taiwan, Kaohsiung (Taiwan-China) offers a different side of Taiwan, distinct from Taipei, with views of the harbor, night markets, art spaces, and coastal cultural attractions.
Barcelona (Spain) is an ideal destination for travelers who love architecture, Mediterranean culture, and football, while Fujikawaguchiko, Japan, attracts travelers who prefer tranquil lakeside getaways and views of Mount Fuji, rather than bustling big cities.
Istanbul , a Turkish city, attracts Vietnamese tourists thanks to its unique blend of history, culture, and unparalleled transcontinental experiences. Turkey's strong tourism promotion efforts in Vietnam, along with the simplified e-visa process, have made Istanbul a more accessible destination for Vietnamese travelers this summer.
