Spring arrives in the homes of the needy.

Việt NamViệt Nam24/01/2025

This Lunar New Year, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dao's family in Zone 2, Dai An Commune, Thanh Ba District, has even more reason to celebrate as their new house has just been handed over. Mrs. Dao's family is classified as a poor household; her husband has passed away, and she herself is a former volunteer youth worker with poor health. She lived with her disabled granddaughter in an old, severely dilapidated house.

In that situation, the Thanh Ba District Red Cross Society connected with Ao Vua Joint Stock Company to support the construction of a humanitarian house for Ms. Dao's family. The house, with an area of over 100 square meters and a total value of over 200 million VND, included 40 million VND from Ao Vua Joint Stock Company, and contributions from family, relatives, and neighbors to help complete the new house. Ms. Dao emotionally stated: "Thanks to the care and support of the Red Cross Society and benefactors, my family has been able to build such a spacious house. I am very happy and excited..."

Spring arrives in the homes of the needy.

Leaders of the Provincial Red Cross Society visited and encouraged the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Dao in Zone 2, Dai An Commune, Thanh Ba District, in their new home.

Mr. Khuc Xuan Duc, Chairman of the Thanh Ba District Red Cross Society, said: In 2024, the Red Cross Society supported the construction and repair of 5 humanitarian houses for poor households with difficult circumstances in Hanh Cu, Hoang Cuong, Dai An, and Son Cuong communes, with a total construction value of nearly 1 billion VND. In addition, the district Red Cross Society also propagated and mobilized local people to participate in helping and supporting these families in various ways such as labor, materials, etc., to jointly build new houses in accordance with the humanitarian spirit.

It's hard to describe the joy of Mr. Nguyen Van Luc's family this Tet holiday. A poor household with particularly difficult circumstances in Da Ban 2 area, Ngoc Lap commune, Yen Lap district, received a new house. For many years, his family lived in a dilapidated, severely degraded house. The dream of a new, sturdy house seemed far-fetched, but the joy came thanks to the joint efforts and connections of the Red Cross at all levels. The provincial Red Cross contributed 50 million VND, the Bac Tu Liem district Red Cross ( Hanoi ) contributed 30 million VND, and the remaining funds and labor were provided by officials, civil servants of Ngoc Lap commune, and residents of the area, enabling Mr. Luc's family to have a new house, over 50 square meters in size and worth over 100 million VND, handed over before the Lunar New Year.

To increase the number of humanitarian houses, the Provincial Red Cross Society directed local Red Cross societies to survey needs and select beneficiary households; coordinating with local Party committees and authorities to conduct public and transparent inspections to ensure the rights of truly needy poor households in need of housing, so that timely support can be provided. From there, a list and records of humanitarian addresses were compiled as a basis for mobilizing support resources. In addition, Red Cross societies at all levels actively, proactively, flexibly, and creatively mobilized resources from organizations, individuals, and philanthropists. Thanks to the care and support of Party committees, authorities, and Red Cross societies at all levels, many humanitarian houses have been newly built or renovated, helping the poor to "settle down" and enjoy a warm and joyful Lunar New Year in their warm and compassionate homes.

Ms. Le Thi Quynh Trang, President of the Provincial Red Cross Society, stated: During the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, the Red Cross Societies at all levels throughout the province mobilized support to build 28 new houses for poor households and those in difficult circumstances, with a total mobilized fund of over 1.5 billion VND, so that all families could celebrate Tet... This has fostered and promoted the spirit of mutual support and compassion in the community to help many people in difficult circumstances, contributing to the effective implementation of social welfare policies in the province.
