Deserving to be a "solid support" for fishermen

In recent years, along with the task of training and combat readiness, the Naval Region 4 Command has regularly coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the provinces: Ninh Thuan , Binh Thuan, Binh Dinh, ... to effectively implement the Program of coordinating propaganda on seas and islands and propaganda to attract human resources to build a modern Navy. Thereby, directly contributing to raising people's awareness of the position and role of Vietnam's seas and islands; mastering the main contents of the Vietnam Sea Law and regulations when exploiting seafood in the seas; building a position of people's hearts at sea, together with the Navy force to successfully complete the task of protecting the sovereignty of the seas and islands of the Fatherland.

At the same time, the forces of Naval Region 4 and the military and people of Truong Sa island district ( Khanh Hoa province) are always ready to help and support fishermen when requested; ready to rescue ships and rescue fishermen who are unfortunate enough to be in distress at sea. From 2020 to now, the military and people of Truong Sa island district have rescued, rescued, and supported more than 400 ships and boats; treated and provided medicine to more than 600 fishermen; rescued more than 80 fishermen when their ships caught fire or sank. Serious cases were transported to the mainland by ship or plane for timely emergency treatment.

In particular, implementing the program "Vietnam Navy as a support for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea", agencies and units of Naval Region 4 also organized many rich activities, deepening the "military-civilian-fish-water" relationship; both beautifying the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers - Navy soldiers", and adding motivation for fishermen to confidently go offshore and stick to the sea, contributing to protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. In the past 4 years, Naval Region 4 has coordinated to give fishermen about 1,000 fireproof vests, nearly 5,000 national flags and 2,000 sets of documents on the content "Some things fishermen need to know". The Military Medical Force of Naval Region 4 organized health check-ups, provided free medicine and gave medical bags to thousands of people with a total gift value of up to billions of VND.

According to Rear Admiral Nguyen Anh Tuan, member of the Navy Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Commander of Naval Region 4, helping people and saving people is an unspoken command from the heart of a soldier. With the desire to turn the task of helping fishermen into a widespread movement with increasingly higher quality, effectiveness and practicality, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 4 always actively implement the program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea", focusing on propaganda, raising awareness and sense of law compliance; supporting and helping fishermen; protecting fishermen and promoting the role of fishermen in participating in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

Comrade Tran Manh Dung, Standing Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council, assessed that with many rich contents, the Program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea" coordinated by officers and soldiers of Naval Region 4 is a very practical and meaningful activity, contributing to improving the effectiveness of propaganda work, supporting and helping fishermen to participate in safe fishing, protecting fishermen to feel secure in exploiting in the sea areas... At the same time, the Program also gradually creates a change in awareness for fishermen to comply with regulations on combating illegal fishing, especially not to illegally exploit seafood in foreign waters.
