Previously, at 3:00 a.m. on September 5, while fishing in a traditional sea area, about 31 nautical miles southeast of Son Ca Island, the BD98099 TS ship had a problem with the propeller joint breaking to the rear gearbox. Immediately after that, the BD97057 TS ship, captained by Mr. Du Binh, towed the damaged vehicle closer to the island.

At 10:45 a.m. on September 7, in the strong wind and waves, Son Ca Island forces organized a tow to bring the fishing boat to shore safely. As soon as they reached shore, the island's technical staff boarded the ship to survey and coordinate to support the fishermen in overcoming the problem. At the same time, the unit examined and provided medicine to 5 fishermen, presented the national flag, provided 10,000 liters of fresh water, instant noodles, green vegetables and some essential necessities for the fishermen.

After nearly two days of focused repairs, by 4 p.m. on September 8, the island's technical staff had helped fix the engine failure, helping fishing boat BD98099 TS return to normal operation and continue its fishing journey at sea.

It is known that fishing boat BD98099 TS, captained by Mr. Le Thanh Binh ( Gia Lai ), left port on July 11 with 14 workers, and was on a seafood exploitation trip when the accident happened.

“When the ship had an accident in the middle of the sea, we were very worried. Thanks to the soldiers on Son Ca Island who promptly rescued, towed and provided us with necessities, we were able to confidently fix the damage and continue to stay at sea. This is truly a solid support for us fishermen in the middle of the sea,” said Mr. Le Thanh Binh.

The timely rescue and support of fishermen in distress by the forces on Son Ca Island not only contributes to ensuring the safety of people's lives and property, but also demonstrates the close relationship between the army and the people, and is a reliable support for fishermen when going out to sea. This activity affirms the important role of the forces on the islands, both firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, and accompanying fishermen so that they can confidently stay at sea and on fishing grounds.
