Upon receiving the news, the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard dispatched the BP 13-98-01 ship with 6 officers and soldiers to urgently approach the scene. By 5 p.m. the same day, the force had successfully rescued 11 fishermen and brought them safely to shore.
Among the victims, a crew member suffered facial injuries and had difficulty breathing and was given timely first aid by the medical staff of Squadron 2; the remaining fishermen received health care, food, drinking water, and warm clothes.

Captain Le Van Thiep (ship TG 90738 TS) said that while anchoring to fix a technical problem with his fellow ship, he was suddenly hit by a cargo ship, causing both fishing boats to sink.
