More than 400 houses in Le Thuy commune were flooded due to heavy rain.

QTO - On the morning of November 3, information from the Civil Defense Command of Le Thuy commune said that due to prolonged heavy rain, the water level of Kien Giang river rose, causing flooding in many areas, partially isolating low-lying areas. Many traffic routes, schools and residential areas were deeply flooded; thousands of students had to temporarily stay home from school to ensure safety.

As of 8:00 a.m. on November 3, 404 houses in Le Thuy commune were flooded; of which, the largest number of flooded houses were mainly concentrated in the following villages: Mai Ha 32 houses; Phu Tho 120 houses; Tan Le 30 houses; Thuong Phong 30 houses; Thuong Giang 30 houses, Xuan Hoi 25 houses, Dong Thanh 20 houses; an increase of 310 houses compared to yesterday (October 2). Currently, some villages have not yet compiled the number of flooded houses.

In the commune, the basic traffic routes were deeply flooded (some places were flooded over 80cm); Road 30 had a 100m slope landslide. Many main roads were cut off, vehicles could not move, people had to use boats to get around.

The whole commune has 23 schools, including: 6 kindergartens, with 1,907 students; 9 primary schools, with 3,230 students; 6 secondary schools, with 2,657 students and 2 high schools. As of this morning, the water in the schools is rising and flooding into the classrooms. Therefore, 21/21 schools have allowed students to stay home from school (no online learning).
