On May 6, she will go to India to participate in the 72nd Miss World. On this occasion, Y Nhi talked about the preparation process and her personal changes.
- How did you feel before leaving for the competition?
- I am ready in every way, eager to meet new friends from all over the world . For me, Miss World is not only a beauty contest, but also a place for young girls to spread the values of humanity in line with the contest's slogan - Beauty with a purpose - Beauty for a noble purpose.
I entered the competition with a serious and eager attitude. If I am lucky enough to achieve a high result, it will be a great honor. However, the most important thing is that I have the opportunity to learn and spread the spirit and beauty of Vietnamese women to international friends.
- What did you prepare for the contest?
- I have more than half a year to practice in all aspects. Over the past few months, I have improved my performance, behavior, and communication skills with many coaches. I also learned how to do my own makeup and hair. For the talent show, I learned to dance and sing with a professional vocal teacher and choreographer.
I am now confident in my ability to communicate in English. My time studying in Australia helped me improve my listening and speaking skills. In particular, I learned how to create a comfortable and friendly atmosphere when communicating with others.
I also actively learn about fashion , how to choose clothes suitable for each activity and Indian culture.
For me, no skill is redundant or "enough". I always put "learning" first because I understand that I still have to improve every day. Lessons do not only come from the classroom but also from observations and summaries of life experiences and youthful struggles.
- The charity projects of Miss World contestants often get high scores, what will you present to win over the judges?
- I do Heart To Head - Journey of heart and mind not a temporary project to bring to the competition, but a long-term, sustainable project.
When presenting, I will focus on the value and influence of the project. So far, after half a year of launching, my team and I have traveled to 12 provinces and cities, donated more than 20 bookcases, and supported the repair and renovation of school facilities, so that children can have better learning conditions. Seeing children open a comic book for the first time, I understand that accessing and expanding knowledge is very necessary. Through each book, I hope that children can find knowledge and relaxation. I always believe that education is a solid foundation to change a person's life.
I will not use flowery words to present, but choose to share with sincerity, practical experience. I have had trips in pouring rain, crossed winding dirt roads, waded through mud to reach the school in the high mountains. However, when I saw the children happy with the bookshelf, all my fatigue disappeared.
- What did you learn from previous contestants to be able to go far in the competition?
- Looking back at the achievements that the ladies have achieved in the competition, I feel a bit pressured. However, instead of letting that affect my mentality, I see it as a motivation to remind myself to be more serious and try harder.
I had a chance to talk with her. Do Thi Ha (top 13 final), Luong Thuy Linh (top 12). They not only encouraged me, but also taught me how to maintain my composure and handle pressure. I kept in mind important advice such as staying strong, always believing in myself, and not forgetting my own identity. Calmness, courage, and sincerity are the factors that help each contestant shine.
- Much Candidate are receiving high praise from beauty sites and audiences, what do you think when compared to them?
- I understand that the 72nd competition will be very fierce because there are many strong candidates. Therefore, comparisons are inevitable. However, this does not discourage me.
I was selected from the Miss World Vietnam 2024 contest - a long and serious journey. I believe I have the qualities and am suitable for the spirit and criteria of Miss World.
- How have you changed after nearly a year of being crowned?
- For me, the biggest change is not in a specific skill, but in knowing how to perceive myself and the world around me. During my time studying abroad, I learned to be independent, adapt to a multicultural environment with many differences. When I returned home and participated in a series of volunteer programs, I learned to listen and share more.
From a somewhat shy girl, I am now more confident, calm, and especially know my life goals. I know that I was not a beauty queen loved by everyone from the beginning. For the audience who are still hesitant or do not really believe in Y Nhi, I hope to prove it with my efforts.
After some bad performances, I learned a lesson: The important thing is not to be perfect, but to know when you are wrong and correct it, and if you are not good enough, learn more. During the journey at Miss World, if I can show everyone that Ý Nhi is changing positively and maturing, that is the most wonderful thing for me.
- How do your family and relatives support you?
- The closer the departure date gets, the more I feel everyone's affection for me. The team members and the busy coaches still take the time to text me to ask how I am, remind me to drink enough water, and not to lose sleep. I remember one day when I came home late from practice, opened my phone, read a message with the content "Keep going, I believe you can do it", and I burst into tears. The small action gave me great strength, and I felt like I was not alone.
My family has always been a strong spiritual support for me in all circumstances, especially my father. Up to now, no matter what direction I choose to develop, my father always believes that his daughter will be brave enough. My father is emotional, often calls to ask about and encourage his daughter. His very ordinary questions encourage me a lot when I am tired or weak.
