Yen Mo OCOP products are ready to serve the Tet market

At this time, OCOP entities in Yen Mo district are actively improving product quality, boosting production, and preparing goods to supply the market for the Lunar New Year.

In the last days of the year, the production atmosphere at the Nhu Quynh Sticky Rice Production Facility (Trong Hamlet, Lien Phuong, Yen Nhan Commune) is very bustling. Workers are busy washing rice, cooking rice, drying, frying, packaging, labeling... to supply products to the market in time for this Tet holiday.

Nhu Quynh sticky rice crispy is recognized as a 4-star OCOP product of Yen Mo district in 2022, with a variety of products such as traditional crispy rice, crispy rice with pork floss... The products are being served at many famous tourist destinations inside and outside the province such as: Bai Dinh pagoda, Trang An tourist area, Tam Chuc pagoda ( Ha Nam ), Yen Tu pagoda (Quang Ninh)... as well as supermarket systems and stores nationwide.

Mr. Tran Manh Tung, Director of Nhu Quynh Private Food Processing and Production Enterprise, said: "Currently, the enterprise has received a number of orders for gifts, presents as well as consumption during Tet. Compared to the same period last year, this year's orders have increased significantly, and the enterprise is expected to release about 10,000 boxes of burnt rice to the market to serve the needs during Tet. To meet the production requirements at the end of the year, we have prepared raw materials since the beginning of November, and received 10 more seasonal workers to process and package the products."

The bird's nest products of Huan Hoa bird's nest production cooperative (Yen Nhan commune) are certified as 3-star OCOP products of Yen Mo district in 2023 and are expected to be one of the OCOP products with large consumption during Tet.

Ms. Pham Thi Hoa, Director of Huan Hoa Bird's Nest Production Cooperative, shared: "Due to the market demand shifting to using bird's nest products as gifts and offerings, the Cooperative focuses on diversifying designs, improving packaging and labels to make products more beautiful, attractive and convenient. We have launched a product model specifically designed for Tet to serve customers."

In order to gradually improve productivity and product quality, the cooperative has invested in installing a closed chain system including many modern machines such as electric bird's nest extractor, automatic shrink film hot air blower, dryer, automatic jar lid sealing machine, autoclave sterilizer...

"Since ancient times, Non Khe egg rolls/On the Tet tray, if there is no egg roll, it is less luxurious", egg rolls have long become a specialty of Yen Tu commune, an indispensable dish on the people's trays, used on many important occasions, especially Tet.

Mr. Bui Van Phuong, owner of Phuong Ben egg sausage production facility, shared: "In 2023, my family's egg sausage product was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product. This joy helps us to make more efforts in preserving traditional flavors, choosing fresh and delicious food, ensuring food hygiene and safety, thereby providing quality products to the market."

Phuong Ben egg sausage production facility supplies products all year round, but is busiest during the cold season and peaks during the Lunar New Year. Since the beginning of December, the facility has received nearly 100 orders for the Tet holiday. Due to storage conditions, egg sausage can only be used within 1 week and must be kept in the refrigerator, so the closer to Tet, the busier the production facility gets.

"From December 20th, which is the peak production period, we hire more workers to ensure sufficient supply for pre-orders and additional orders. Not only focusing on product quality, the facility also invests in packaging and labels to serve the gift-giving needs of the people," Mr. Phuong added.

2023 is a year of economic difficulties, significantly affecting the production and business activities of OCOP entities, so most establishments and enterprises are producing moderately, monitoring market signals to have appropriate directions. However, with the current number of orders, owners of production establishments are optimistic, believing in a successful Tet season.

Yen Mo district currently has 14 OCOP products, mostly agricultural products, processed foods, handicrafts..., suitable for gifts and consumption during Tet. The end of the year is the time when OCOP entities in the district promote production and improve designs to serve the market. All products are granted food safety certificates, have codes, barcodes, and traceability stamps, creating consumer trust.

With preparation and efforts in improving quality and promoting products, consumers will have more opportunities to choose OCOP products of Yen Mo district, ensuring food hygiene and safety at reasonable prices during the Lunar New Year 2024.
