BTO-Nam Binh Thuan Regional General Hospital has just announced: The hospital's Emergency Department received a suspected case of poisoning due to eating mushrooms. After emergency treatment, the patient was transferred to a higher level.
The Emergency Department of Nam Binh Thuan Regional General Hospital recorded the image of the fungus provided by the patient.
It was a 34-year-old male patient in Tan Ha commune (Duc Linh) who went to the garden in Duc Tai commune on May 21, 2023, saw horny mushrooms that looked like cordyceps, so he pulled up about 13-15 mushrooms to cook. After eating, the patient was still normal, but at 12 o'clock on May 22, the patient vomited a lot, had abdominal cramps, then had impaired perception and was taken by his family to the Emergency Department - Nam Binh Thuan Regional General Hospital. After emergency care, the patient was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital, where he is being treated. The patient's health status is currently impaired.
According to the Emergency Department of this hospital, a few years ago, the hospital also treated a similar suspected case of mushroom poisoning. On the cicada's body, there was a parasitic fungus that could be easily confused with Cordyceps. This is an extremely poisonous fungus called Gyrommitrin, if eaten by mistake, it can cause poisoning and a high risk of death.
