This information was confirmed to VTC News today (September 19th) by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Victoria School, who is temporarily authorized to manage the teaching and learning of Green Shoots International School (Green Shoots International School).

According to Mr. Huong, on September 11th, Green Bud School moved to a new location and rented facilities from Victoria Inter-level School in Dien Ngoc ward, Dien Ban town, Quang Nam province , to conduct its teaching activities.

After a week of reopening, Green Bud International School welcomed back 17 out of 95 students.

"After a week of reopening, Green Bud School has welcomed a total of 17 students and is still waiting for the remaining students to return to class. Currently, some parents have transferred their children to other schools temporarily for the first semester and plan to return to Green Bud School in the second semester," Mr. Huong added.

As reported by VTC News, Green Bud International School was established in 2014 by Green Bud Vietnam Education Co., Ltd.

The school leases land at 414/8/1 Cua Dai Street (Cam Chau Ward, Hoi An City) to use as its teaching facility. The school is run by Ms. Catherine Clare McKinley (52 years old, British nationality). The school teaches the British national curriculum (IPC, IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate program (IBD and IBDP).

From May to August 2023, the school organized enrollment for all levels from preschool to high school for the 2023-2024 academic year. According to the plan, students will return to school on August 22nd.

However, on August 8th, parents were surprised to receive a notification from Catherine Clare McKinley stating that she was no longer running Green Shoots. Students currently enrolled at the school would be transferred to an international school in Da Nang to continue their studies.

However, when parents contacted the international school in Da Nang, the school stated that it did not receive tuition fees from Green Shoots and therefore had no responsibility to accept the students. Meanwhile, the Green Shoots International School in Hoi An had closed down and vacated the premises.

One parent stated that the school conducts admissions and sets tuition fees ranging from 350-400 million VND per year, which parents can pay monthly or quarterly. According to preliminary statistics, parents have already paid approximately 14 billion VND in tuition fees.

By September 7th, Green Bud School had submitted a report to the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training regarding its resumption of operations.

"Recently, the facilities at the rented location in Hoi An have deteriorated, and the school had agreed to rent a space at APU but the deal fell through. Now, with the agreement, attention, and support of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee and the Quang Nam Provincial Department of Education and Training, Green Bud School is allowed to relocate to Victoria Inter-level School - Sentosa City Urban Area, Dien Ngoc Ward, Dien Ban Town, starting from the 2023-2024 school year."

"Green Bud School respectfully reports to the authorities that the school will resume normal operations from September 11th onwards" - excerpt from the report.
