Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc - General Director of VPF emphasized the important role of VAR technology after 3 seasons of application in Vietnamese professional football tournaments, including some matches in the National First Division this year.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc affirmed that VPF and VFF are working closely to ensure that VAR referee resources meet standards and meet competition requirements.
This phase has 19 students, including 5 V-League assistants, 6 First Division referees and 8 non-professional referees. The students will undergo 6 days of continuous study, practicing on the field with realistic simulation situations, from short exercises to full 90-minute matches.
In addition to the VFF Referee Board lecturers who directly instruct, FIFA lecturers will monitor and evaluate the learning quality of each referee through daily video recording data, before deciding to grant a certificate to officiate at matches with VAR.
To date, Vietnam has had 36 certified referees and assistant referees. A number of qualified non-professional referees have also been assigned to work as VAR assistant referees (AVARs) at matches of the 2024/25 national professional football tournaments, contributing to improving the quality of refereeing in domestic tournaments.
