From March 1, the Tax Department is organized from central to local levels according to a 3-level model, including: Tax Department (12 units at the central level), 20 regional tax branches and 350 district and inter-district tax teams.

Thus, according to the new organizational model, the entire tax sector has reduced from 4,141 units to 3,108 units (a decrease of 1,033 units, equivalent to 24.95%).

“This is an important milestone for the Tax sector, not only a change in organizational structure but also a strong transformation towards a streamlined apparatus, improving operational efficiency, meeting the requirements of socio -economic development and best serving the people and businesses” - Director of the Tax Department Mai Xuan Thanh emphasized.

The Tax Department has also just announced the Decisions on appointment and acceptance of appointment of individuals holding the position of Deputy Director of the Tax Department including: Mr. Vu Chi Hung; Mr. Dang Ngoc Minh; Mr. Mai Son; Mr. Vu Manh Cuong and Mr. Le Long (former Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel - State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises).

The Tax Department has also issued 20 decisions assigning tasks/appointing for a limited period of time to 20 regional tax branch heads nationwide.

After the streamlining and removal of the general department model, some general directors were appointed as department directors according to the new operating apparatus at the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.
