Double valedictorian with breakthrough journey
This summer has become a special milestone for Hoang Le Tuan Dung - a student of class 9A2, Le Van Thiem Secondary School (Ha Tinh City). He is the valedictorian of the IT specialized class with 10 points in the specialized subject, and is also the candidate with the highest score in the 10th grade entrance exam of Ha Tinh Specialized High School with 55.75 points. These two achievements are the result of Tuan Dung's persistent learning process, passion and spirit of constant breakthrough.
“Although I have studied IT since grade 4, it was not until mid-grade 8 that I really felt interested. When I started programming, I realized that this is a subject that requires clear thinking, tight logic and is also very interesting. From then on, I decided to take the exam for the IT specialized class and started to study systematically,” Tuan Dung shared.
It is known that at Le Van Thiem Secondary School, from grade 6, students have been familiar with the C++ programming language. This is the school's policy to equip early foundations for students who love IT, helping them to participate in young IT competitions, confidently taking entrance exams to specialized schools.
Mr. Vo Ta Nam - IT teacher at Le Van Thiem Secondary School, commented: "Tuan Dung is a student with outstanding abilities, especially in IT, he learns quickly and is eager to learn. He is not only good but also modest, hard-working, always looking for new solutions and proactive in self-study."
Although he spends a lot of time on his major, Tuan Dung still studies all the general subjects. He does not study widely but selectively, focusing on understanding the essence and practicing each part of knowledge thoroughly.
With a total score of 55.75, including 8.5 in Math; 7.75 in Literature; 9.5 in English and a perfect score (10 points) in IT (coefficient 3), Tuan Dung excellently became the valedictorian of the IT class and the valedictorian of grade 10 at Ha Tinh Specialized High School. This achievement is not only the result of passion but also of discipline in studying. “I am very happy to have achieved my goal. But what I value more is that the learning process has helped me practice my self-study ability, patience and initiative in everything. I feel like I have matured a lot,” said Tuan Dung.
Two female students shine with top results in English and Physics
Not only has Hoang Le Tuan Dung as the double valedictorian, Le Van Thiem Secondary School this year also has two excellent female students winning the valedictorian position in specialized subjects: Phan Ha Phuong - class 9A1, valedictorian in English and Le Phuong Dan - class 9A3, valedictorian in Physics.
Among them, Phan Ha Phuong impressed with a total score of 54.2, with 8.9 points in her specialized subject. Ha Phuong shared: “Since I was 6 years old, I have loved watching English cartoons on YouTube. I often listen to them over and over again to understand the content, then learn vocabulary and practice pronunciation according to the characters”. Thanks to maintaining a regular self-study habit, by grade 7, she had achieved IELTS 6.0. In the 2024-2025 school year, she continued to make her mark with first prize in English at the provincial-level 9th grade excellent student competition.
Ms. Dinh Thi Hong Van - Ha Phuong's mother shared: "My husband and I always respect our child's learning style, do not force, only accompany and create conditions for our child to develop according to his interests. Seeing my child work hard, be self-disciplined and achieve good results, I am very happy."
The love and trust of her family has become the motivation for Ha Phuong to constantly strive. For her, the valedictorian result is an important milestone, but not the final destination. “Getting into the English major class is a great joy for me, but there are still many challenges ahead. I want to continue to study better, and at the same time participate in extracurricular activities to practice communication skills, presentation, teamwork, etc.” - Ha Phuong expressed.
If English opened a colorful world of languages for Ha Phuong, Physics was the “door to science ” for Le Phuong Dan, a student of class 9A3. With a total score of 54.64, of which the specialized subject scored 9.13, she excellently won the top position in the specialized Physics class of Ha Tinh Specialized High School.
Phuong Dan shared: “At first, I found Physics quite difficult, but the more I studied, the more interesting it became because it helped me explain many phenomena around me. Every time I understood a new knowledge, I felt very happy and had more motivation to continue studying.”
It is curiosity and a spirit of progress that have helped Phuong Dan gradually conquer this "difficult" subject. She always listens attentively to lectures, trying to understand the nature of each formula and phenomenon. In addition, she often finds more advanced exercises to test herself, practice her quick solving skills and learn from her mistakes. The regular and systematic study method also helped Phuong Dan win second prize in Physics at the provincial level 9th grade excellent student competition for the 2024-2025 school year.
Evaluating this year's exam, Phuong Dan said: "This year's exam has many real-life situations, requiring the ability to analyze and apply knowledge. But for me, that is not too big of an obstacle because the teachers have familiarized us with many types of open questions, so I am quite confident when entering the exam room."
Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh - Physics teacher (Le Van Thiem Secondary School) said: "Phuong Dan has a good self-study spirit, learns quickly and always tries to understand the problem deeply. She is not afraid to ask questions when she is unclear and is always serious in her studies. Those are the qualities that help her make remarkable progress every year."
Although spending a lot of time on her major, Phuong Dan still maintains a balance by studying all other subjects. She also actively participates in class and school activities to practice more soft skills. For her, studying is a long-term process, requiring perseverance, patience and true love.

At the 10th grade entrance exam to Ha Tinh Specialized High School, Le Van Thiem Secondary School had 184 students taking the exam. Of these, more than 70% had enough points to enter Ha Tinh Specialized High School.
