Upon hearing the news, many teachers and students of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Long Bien District, Hanoi), where General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong studied for 6 years, were extremely saddened.

Speaking with Dan Viet reporter , a leader of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School said that all staff of the school expressed their condolences for the sudden passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a dedicated, devoted and devoted leader until the last minute of his life.

According to the school representative, in the memories of generations of teachers and students of the school, the General Secretary was always attentive, showing warm and affectionate feelings. Every time the General Secretary visited the school, he often spent time talking kindly with all the teachers and staff, encouraging everyone to strive to complete the task and successfully implement the 2018 textbook program innovation.

The most recent time the General Secretary returned to the school was on November 14, 2020, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School. The General Secretary is always friendly and close to the generations of students of the school. Every time he returns to his old school, he gets to meet his old teachers, mingle with generations of students of the school he was once attached to, and the unforgettable memories and deep memories of his student days come flooding back. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emotionally recounted the difficult but extremely warm and loving years. The General Secretary also advised the generations to study hard, dare to dream and make their dreams come true.

"The General Secretary recounted that in the past, when he was still a student, the school was cramped, with thatched houses, thatched roofs, and dirt yards; facilities, laboratories, libraries... were very simple and lacking. Most of the students lived far away, transportation was very difficult, most of them had to walk dozens of kilometers. The General Secretary's house was in Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, to get to school, they had to take a boat across the Duong River to go to school.

During the cold and rainy times, we had to stay at school with our homeroom teacher, so we have very profound memories. Many people, including the General Secretary, had to stay at other people's houses, rent houses, or even had to study and work part-time to make a living," the school representative was moved.

The General Secretary always cares about generations.

The school still remembers the memory shared by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong that in 1962, when he was in class 10B with teacher Le Duc Giang as the homeroom teacher, the school organized a newspaper writing contest. The class won an award, in which Mr. Trong wrote a poem titled "The last year of high school" with "sincere" emotions.

The General Secretary read the first four and last four sentences. The first four sentences expressed joy: "I am so happy, so happy/ I studied at 10B Nguyen Gia Thieu/ Now I have become the eldest brother/ Life is as happy as a kite flying high". The last four sentences expressed concern: "What should I do to make life more meaningful/ The last year of high school/ Or just let life pass quietly/ Following the boring, cold time..."

According to the school representative, the General Secretary paid great attention to the teachers, asked about and wished good health to those who were sick, and advised to pay attention to the younger generation and encourage students to study to train many talented people for the city and the country.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his joy, excitement and pride in the achievements the school has made over the past 70 years. Compared to the time he studied, the school is now much more spacious, cleaner, larger in scale and has more modern, civilized and complete learning conditions and facilities; the level and quality of education and training are increasingly higher and better.

Many students of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School enthusiastically volunteered to join the army, fight in the South or join the youth volunteer force, build farms, forestry farms, and build roads. Many comrades heroically sacrificed themselves, becoming martyrs... Many later became scientists, managers, professors, doctors, engineers... contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, building the heroic and civilized capital of Hanoi.

"With the attention of the General Secretary, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School has made efforts to complete its tasks. Principal Le Trung Kien, on behalf of the school's staff and more than 2,000 students, promised to be determined to implement the 2018 education program well. Since then, the school has always been at the top of the admission scores as well as the graduation exam results of 12th grade students," said the leader of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School.

This year, 100% of 12th graders at Nguyen Gia Thieu High School graduated from high school, including Le Ha Nhi, who was one of the two valedictorians nationwide in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam with a score of 57.85 points. Of which, History 10 points; Geography 10 points, Civics 10 points, Math 8.8 points, Foreign Language 9.8 points, Literature 9.25 points.

Also speaking with Dan Viet reporter , a leader of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School shared that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has most clearly demonstrated the qualities of "diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality" following the example of President Ho Chi Minh. This is a very exemplary example for generations of students of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School to strive and follow.

"My memorable memory was the time the school's Party Committee invited General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to attend the school's 70th anniversary celebration. I saw with my own eyes his very simple office. I was very impressed with that image. In addition, on that occasion, the General Secretary still called the teachers 'em'. Although he was the head of the Party and State, the General Secretary still called them that to show his respect for the teachers and the school that had taught him," he added.
