Which seed group is Vietnam women's futsal in?

There are 12 teams that have qualified for the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship finals, including host China, defending champion Iran, Thailand (seed group 1); Japan, Vietnam, Uzbekistan (seed group 2); Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong (seed group 3); Bahrain, Philippines and Australia (seed group 4).

The seeding is based on the teams' rankings according to the FIFA rankings. According to this principle, in theory, all four Southeast Asian teams could end up in the same group at the finals. If that happens, it would be a rare case in the history of football in the region.

Seed groups at Asian futsal tournament

Assuming that the four Southeast Asian teams, including Thailand (FIFA rank 6), Vietnam (FIFA rank 11), Indonesia (24) and the Philippines (59), are in the same group at the Asian Cup, the chances of the Vietnamese women's futsal team passing the group stage will increase significantly. Although Thailand is the highest-ranked women's futsal team in Southeast Asia on the FIFA rankings, the Vietnamese women's futsal team is the reigning champion of the regional women's futsal tournament.

According to the regulations of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship, the teams will compete in a round robin in the group stage, calculate points, and be ranked. The top two teams in each group, along with the two third-placed teams with the best results, will advance to the quarter-finals. From the quarter-finals onwards, the matches will be played in a knockout format after one round.

The 2025 AFC Futsal Championship will take place from May 7-18 in China. The top three teams in this year's Asian tournament (excluding the host of the World Cup, the Philippines) will qualify for the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup, which will take place later this year.
