Meals of love
Lien Tam Volunteer Group was established in July 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City, led by Ms. Cao Huu Hoang Van (born in 1992, Cam Lam commune, Khanh Hoa province). Currently, the group has about 800 members in all provinces and cities such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Can Tho, Tay Ninh, Tuyen Quang, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Quang Tri... Ms. Van said that when she started her career in Ho Chi Minh City, she participated in volunteer activities, went to the temple to help cook for the poor, so she saw many difficult situations. After spending her own money to help people, she connected members with a common volunteer heart to organize activities. The first program the group implemented was to give 100 gifts to homeless people at night in Ho Chi Minh City with a value of more than 2.5 million VND contributed by members. After that, the group organized many larger activities in many provinces and cities across the country. When implementing the program, in addition to local members, there was also the participation of volunteers from Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities to join hands. Ms. Van shared: "The group was named Lien Tam with the desire to connect compassionate hearts to do good deeds together. The group's message is "Bringing love, sharing happiness" to difficult circumstances".
In Khanh Hoa, from March 2025 to present, the group has organized many activities to support children and people in difficult areas. According to Mr. Nguyen Vinh Tai (born in 1994, residing in Cam Lam commune) - Group leader in Khanh Hoa, said: "Every 2 weeks, the group organizes the program "Cooking for children" in the communes: Cam Hiep, Suoi Dau, Cam An, Tay Khanh Son... Each time, about 450 to 650 free meals for children with dishes such as: Fish vermicelli, beef stew bread, rice noodles, broken rice, bread stew"...
Mr. DO MINH HIEN - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cam Hiep commune said: "In the past time, Lien Tam Volunteer Group has organized many activities to support the people of the commune, especially the people of ethnic minorities. Thereby, contributing to the locality in implementing social security work well. The locality always creates favorable conditions for the group to organize programs. In particular, directing the Commune Youth Union to support the group in organizing games, cooking, and giving gifts to children and households in difficult circumstances"...
Recently, we went to Son Tan Health Station, Cam Hiep Commune with our group to cook 350 lunches for children in the two villages of Va Ly and Suoi Coc. About 30 volunteers divided each person into different tasks such as: preparing and cooking food; cooking ginseng water; organizing games for children; setting up a "0 dong" clothing stall for people to choose from. When participating in the program, the children not only got to eat and play but also received gifts before going home. Cao Thi Kim Hoa (6th grade student, Cam Ranh Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities) said that she was very happy and excited to participate in folk games with her friends and enjoy delicious food at the program organized by the teachers.
Support for households in special difficulty
Currently, the group provides monthly support to 23 households in particularly difficult circumstances in Cam Hiep and Tay Khanh Son communes. Each month, members visit each house to give 1 million VND and necessities worth about 500,000 VND such as: rice, sugar, fish sauce, salt, instant noodles, mosquito nets, blankets... depending on the needs of each household. Mr. Bo Bo Nep (born in 1963, Suoi Coc village, Cam Hiep commune) lives with his 96-year-old mother in a temporary house given to him by a neighbor; the family is poor. His mother has been blind for 8 years, so he takes care of all daily activities. Apart from his mother's allowance of more than 1.6 million VND/month, Mr. Nep has no other job or income. Mr. Nep said that when he received the group's monthly support, he was very happy. Thanks to that, he has more rice to eat and money to buy meat and fish to supplement his mother's diet.

To raise funds to organize activities, the group mobilizes benefactors and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and other localities. In addition, the group sells vegetarian products, moon cakes, dried mangoes and regional specialties and then puts the profits into the fund. In addition to cooking for children and supporting extremely disadvantaged households, the group also builds charity houses; 0-VND ambulance trips; supports funeral expenses; pays for treatment costs for children with cancer; builds roads and bridges... in provinces and cities across the country.
Despite their busy work, the group members always take time to participate in activities. Ms. Huynh Thi Truc Linh (born in 1990, Cam Lam commune) - a member of the group shared: "Every time we organize a cooking event, I personally choose the food, then prepare and season it to ensure safety and hygiene. Seeing the children eat well and play happily makes us very happy!".
