46 pairs of twins studying at the same university in Ho Chi Minh City will receive a 50% tuition fee reduction.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has just decided to reduce tuition fees by 50% for the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year for 92 twin students currently studying at the university.

Twin siblings enroll in the same year, mostly in different majors. However, there are also many pairs of twins who study the same major, or even the same class.

Among the 46 pairs of twin students, it is noteworthy that two pairs were born on the same day, month, and year: September 3, 2003. Many pairs of twins share the same name.

In addition to a 50% tuition reduction for twin students, the school also offers a 30% tuition reduction for siblings studying at the school.

Statistics show that there are 121 pairs of siblings, meaning 242 students who are siblings are currently studying at the school.

Mr. Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that the policy of reducing tuition fees for twins and siblings studying at the university has been implemented for many years.

Regarding the reason for this, Mr. Son stated that a family with two university students studying at the same time would have to pay tuition fees of 32-35 million VND per semester. This does not include the cost of food, living expenses, and accommodation.

Based on preliminary calculations, a family would need to spend approximately 20 million VND per month if they have two children attending university. This is far too much for many families.

"The school is reducing tuition fees to help students and their families alleviate some of the financial burden of studying. This helps families ease the financial strain of having two children attending university at the same time," Mr. Son added.
