50 years of striving with the nation

Over 50 years of formation and development, Tay Ninh province's literature and arts have made important strides, contributing to improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people.

Many works of literature and art live forever

During the resistance war, the Central Propaganda Department of the Southern Bureau - where most of the revolutionary artists of the whole country gathered - created immortal works in the fire and smoke, lasting forever with time, contributing greatly to the cause of national liberation struggle such as the songs: "Leaning up", "Doi bo Vam Co Dong", "Nhac rung", "Xuan chien khu", "Bai ca may ao"...

During the war to protect the southwestern border in 1979, the songs “Sing about you”, “Your singing is like a river”, “You go through the wooden bridge”, “The flowers on the fire line”… truly portrayed the hearts of musicians The Hien, Le Van Loc, Nguyen Duc Trung, Nguyen Cuu Dung… who were youth volunteer forces reinforced from Ho Chi Minh City.

Tay Ninh is also the homeland of artistic talents such as Xuan Hong, Thanh Hien, Van An, Dao Van Thanh, Tam Bach, Vo Dong Minh, Le Chi Trung... who have contributed to enriching the province's arts and literature. Besides, Tay Ninh has many local artists who were trained in the North such as Xuan Hong, Thanh Hien or matured from the reality of the resistance war such as: Cuu Long Thi, Phan Van, Van An, Xuan Phat, Xuan Quang, Thanh Hai, Giang Dong, Le Chi Trung, Thanh Nhan...

On October 13, 1984, the Tay Ninh Province Literature and Arts Association was established to gather and foster forces, care for the movement of creation and dissemination of works, and build a plan to develop the province's literature and arts in both breadth and depth in a professional direction. The Association gathered local artists and some brothers and sisters from Ha Bac, Ho Chi Minh City (according to the Government's policy of building new economic zones) and brothers from the North and Central regions to make a living and make a living in the former war zone.

The Provincial Literature and Arts Association achieved the title of unit that excellently completed its tasks in 2023 and received the emulation flag of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations.

After 6 Provincial Literature and Arts Association Congresses, the Association's organization has grown and the number of members has increased; by the end of 2024, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association had 311 members, of which 139 were Party members, accounting for 44.69%; senior members accounted for more than 50%; 68 members under 40 years old, accounting for 21.86%; 62 members from central specialties, accounting for 19.9%.

Proud achievements

In recent years, many creative camps, seminars, and talks have been organized to promote artistic creativity; creative and promotional activities have had many outstanding achievements, specifically: publishing many books, anthologies of poetry, prose, stage scripts, music, etc. The province has advocated the establishment of the Xuan Hong Literature and Arts Award (awarded every 5 years). Up to now, the province has organized the award ceremony 3 times, thereby recognizing many contributions of artists in the province.

Representatives of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association awarded certificates of merit to individuals and collectives with achievements in 2023.

For the award for composing and promoting literary, artistic and journalistic works on the theme "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style", from 2010 to 2025, more than 391 works by 207 authors participated in the selection, of which 62 works had high content value and artistic quality, and were sent to participate in the selection of the Central-level award and awarded the provincial-level award. As a result, the Central-level award achieved 3 Encouragement prizes and 1 Collective Encouragement prize. Up to now, the provincial literature and arts have 664 works that have won awards at all levels, including 29 international awards and 147 national awards.

Tay Ninh literature and arts have developed in many diverse forms, reflecting the cultural and spiritual life of the people. Regarding the literary form, literary works with rich language, profound content, rich in images, and full of literary qualities, are typical examples such as the novels “Bam dat”, “Lon len”; the novel “Saigon 46”, the short story “Chim canh” (author Van An).

Tay Ninh literary works in the past 50 years have made new progress compared to the previous period, with an expanded range of topics and themes; a bolder approach and perspective, closer to the reality of life; more diverse genres and writing styles; truly reflecting the changes of the country and people of Tay Ninh in the new era.

Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Thanh presented a flower basket to congratulate the 2025 Spring Lantern Festival Poetry Night.

Regarding the music genre, many songs are imbued with revolutionary traditions, shining with the qualities of loyalty, loyalty, solidarity between the army and the people, closely attached in building the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in peacetime, or the working people, producing in the period of renovation and integration. The composition force is quite diverse, such as: musician - soldier Xuan Hong, musician Le Chi Trung, Le Chi Khoi, Le Huu Trinh, Le Hoang Minh, Le Hong Tang, Tran Quang Cuong, Nguyen Dinh Hong, Nguyen Quoc Dong, Quoc Tay, Hoai Nguyen, Hoai Nhan, Nguyen Trong Quy, Anh Thu, Huynh Oanh and some young authors such as Nguyen Thien Truong, Anh Thi... (with 9 members of the Vietnam Musicians Association).

Tay Ninh's dance movement has accompanied the province's arts and culture throughout the past time, with works vividly reflecting the love of Tay Ninh land and people. Dance is present in most of the province's programs and events.... With many famous choreographers such as: artists Anh Hong, Kim Phung, Quang Cuong, Hung Du, Tan Loi, Kim Chi, Viet Phuong, Thu Trang, Hoang An, Trong Chinh, Hoai An, Thanh Tam, Minh Triet...

Regarding photography, photographers have contributed to preserving and conveying many artistic, historical, humanistic, aesthetic, educational values... effectively and promptly serving the political tasks of the province in each historical period and meeting the public's need for cultural and artistic enjoyment.

In particular, over the past 10 years, many artists have won many international, national and regional awards. Notable photographers include Meritorious Artist Thanh Nhan, Le Bi, Le Van Dinh, Do Thanh Nhan, Duong Duc Kien, Nguyen Duy Hau, Duong Vinh Tuyen, Nguyen Huynh Dong, Nguyen Nhat Tuong, Nguyen Viet Tien... Currently, there are 8 photographers who are members of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

In the field of painting and sculpture, the paintings and sculptures of artists in the province have depicted the beauty of Tay Ninh people and homeland in the renovation period with outstanding artists such as: Tran Ha, Nguyen Van Binh, Nguyen Huu Thoai, Dang Van Thuc, Tran Van Chinh, Pham Ba Cuong... Currently, there are 11 artists who are members of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. In 2024, 4 works were selected by the Arts Council to be displayed in the 2024 ASEAN Graphic Painting Competition and Exhibition at the Hai Phong Museum organized by ASEAN.

In the field of theater, the strength of Tay Ninh province's theater genre is vọng cổ songs and Southern amateur music with many works known nationwide such as: Tay Ninh Bus Trip, Reluctant Prince... Representative composers and artists such as: Xuan Phat, Thanh Hai, Nguyen The Nghiem, Dang Minh, Thanh Phuong, Kim Tung, Hoang Sen, Xuan Hoa, Hong Ngu, Xuan Loan, Bao Chau, Hoang Chinh, Nhat Minh...

In the field of folk arts, the province currently has 3 members of the Vietnam Folk Arts Association and 3 folk artists. The model of bringing folk culture to the young generation has been built such as: teaching traditional music and amateur music in some high schools; opening classes at cultural institutions in the province, through the Folk Culture Festival, disseminating folk knowledge in many vivid forms such as: experiencing craft villages, watching folk performances (xay chau, bong roi, hau dong, hat boi), the activities are carried out synchronously and effectively, contributing to preserving and promoting cultural heritage, contributing to preserving the cultural identity of the province.

Up to now, Tay Ninh has many local cultural and artistic heritages recognized such as: the art of Don ca tai tu cai luong was recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity; the Chhay-dam drum dance of the Khmer ethnic group in Truong Tay commune was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage... 5 artists were awarded the title of "Meritorious Artist" by the President, 14 artisans were awarded the title of "Meritorious Artisan"; the Vietnam Folk Arts Association recognized 3 artisans as "Folk Artists".
