On the morning of January 2, the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to present the President's decision to eight military officers departing for UN peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and the Central African Republic.

According to the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, the officers sent this time are all excellent cadres, trusted and nominated by agencies and units, and selected from units such as the Navy, Air Defense - Air Force, Signal Corps, Hanoi Capital Command, Political Academy and Army Officer School 1.
Speaking at the decision-giving ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Deputy Minister of National Defense , Head of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee on participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations - expressed his respect and congratulated the eight officers on their departure for their mission, emphasizing that this is a glorious, responsible, and proud mission, but also very difficult and arduous.
"I believe that the officers who will take on this mission will complete it well in any position. All officers here wear the green beret of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Force, the blood of the Vietnam People's Army, are well-trained, have been imparted experience, have been trained abroad and especially have seen the tradition of the army's peacekeeping force," affirmed Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien said that so far, the army has sent nearly 1,100 officers and staff to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
"We hope this number will continue to increase and increase rapidly in the coming time. The policy of the Military Commission of the Ministry of National Defense is to expand the scale, form, position, number of participants and increase the proportion of women," Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien added.
The officers are leaving for their missions this time right on the occasion of Lunar New Year. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien also hopes that everyone will bring the spirit and atmosphere of the traditional Vietnamese New Year to the mission units and people in the area.
He also requested that officers on duty this time must ensure absolute safety while performing their duties outside the area because the security situation is extremely complicated and unpredictable.
To ensure this content, officers must thoroughly understand and strictly implement the Party's policies and guidelines, State laws and military discipline as well as regulations of the United Nations and laws of the host country.
Regarding the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and some related units, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien noted that it is necessary to pay more attention and be more proactive in creating resources, working with agencies of the United Nations Peacekeeping Department and missions to find targets, and add more types of units.

Reporting at the decision-making ceremony, Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, said that all preparations for the deployment of the eight officers had been basically completed, all were mentally secure, had determined their tasks well, and were ready to depart.
Previously, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department did a good job of selecting officers to ensure they met the requirements of military capacity, level, knowledge of UN peacekeeping, foreign language ability and good health.
On behalf of the 8 officers receiving the decision, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thi Minh Nguyet is ready to depart for her mission with the highest spirit and determination, and also promises to carry out well the instructions and notes of the Ministry of National Defense's leaders.

1. Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thi Minh Nguyet, replacing Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hieu, takes on the position of training staff officer, MINUSCA mission, Central African Republic.
2. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Tuan, replacing Captain Le Son Tung, takes on the position of equipment staff officer, MINUSCA mission, Central African Republic.
3. Major Duy Van Son, replacing Lieutenant Colonel Do Van Thong, assumed the position of operations officer, MINUSCA mission, Central African Republic.
4. Captain Le Van Chien, replacing Major Trinh Van Hung, assumed the position of intelligence processing and analysis officer, MINUSCA Mission, Central African Republic.
5. Lieutenant Nguyen Huyen Anh, replacing Captain Nguyen Phuong Linh, takes on the position of information and communication officer, MINUSCA mission, Central African Republic.
6. Senior Lieutenant Phung Minh Cuong, replacing Captain Nguyen Hai Duy, takes on the position of intelligence staff officer, MINUSCA mission, Central African Republic.
7. Major Le Thi Bich Ngoc, replacing Captain Pham Vu Huy Hiep, assumed the position of staff officer, UNMISS mission, Republic of South Sudan.
8. Captain Vu Nguyet Anh, replacing Major Vu Huong Thuy, assumed the position of military observer, UNMISS mission, Republic of South Sudan.
To date, Vietnam has sent nearly 1,100 officers and staff to participate in UN peacekeeping operations at three missions and UN headquarters. Currently, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department is actively preparing to establish Engineering Team No. 4 and Level 2 Field Hospital No. 7 for deployment in 2025.
