On July 26th, the Hanoi - Quang Ninh International General Hospital (Uong Bi Ward) was officially announced. With an area of over 12,000m², a capacity of 120 inpatient beds, and state-of-the-art equipment meeting international standards, such as a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, a 128-slice CT scanner, a Voluson Signature 18 AI ultrasound machine, and an Olympus 4K endoscopy system, this is the first high-quality private hospital in Uong Bi. The hospital also focuses on building a highly qualified workforce and establishing in-depth professional cooperation with central-level hospitals. This allows residents to access advanced treatment methods locally, reducing costs and travel time.
Mr. Trinh Trung Uy, Chairman of Viet Thuan Group, representing the investor of Hanoi - Quang Ninh International General Hospital, shared: "We want to bring high-quality medical services to our homeland, so that people don't have to travel far to receive proper examination and treatment. This is not simply a medical project, but the dedication of an entire team, with the desire to create a reputable, humane, and modern medical facility in Quang Ninh."
Over the past five years, Quang Ninh has witnessed a significant transformation in its private healthcare network. The province currently has 625 operating private medical facilities, including 3 private hospitals, 19 polyclinics, and 603 specialized medical service centers. Many of these facilities have received substantial investment in infrastructure, equipment, and human resources, making a significant contribution to public health care. Notable examples include: Vinmec Ha Long International General Hospital (meeting the US JCI international standard, with a designed capacity of 150 beds); Vietnam-Russia Ha Long International Eye Hospital (20 beds); Hanoi Eye Hospital - Ha Long (25 beds), etc.
Along with hospitals, the system of polyclinics has also made significant progress in terms of quality and scope of operation. Many clinics have 15-20 doctors, including specialists with Level I and Level II qualifications, PhDs, etc., serving the diverse needs of the people.
The private healthcare network also plays an active role in immunization efforts. Currently, the province has 64 public and private vaccination centers (19 public, 45 private), in addition to 185 immunization points at health stations. As a result, the province's expanded immunization rate in 2024 reached 95.8%, exceeding the planned target and higher than the national average.
Notably, the private healthcare system in Quang Ninh is contributing a significant workforce of 1,138 medical personnel, including 381 doctors, 316 nurses, 71 medical technicians, 23 midwives, and many other pharmacists and medical assistants. This is a crucial force supplementing the province's comprehensive healthcare system, especially in the context of an aging population and increasing demand for medical services.
To facilitate the development of private healthcare, the province and the health sector have implemented a series of comprehensive solutions, ranging from policy mechanisms to communication, technical, and administrative support. Notably, a task force has been established to address difficulties faced by private healthcare businesses, providing a central point for receiving feedback and suggestions from these facilities. The sector regularly organizes conferences and training courses on electronic prescriptions and the use of online public services in medical and pharmaceutical practice; while also promoting the benefits of private healthcare services through official media channels.
It is evident that private healthcare has become and continues to be an important pillar in the healthcare system for the people of Quang Ninh.
