Cultural venues have become a cornerstone, contributing to improving the quality of life for workers and fostering community cohesion.
Many healthy playgrounds
In the vibrant atmosphere celebrating the successful conclusion of the 1st Congress of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, and looking forward to the Congress of Trade Unions at all levels for the term 2025-2030, the Trade Union of New Apparel Far Eastern (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., Dong Phu commune, Dong Nai province, recently organized the 4th "FENV Cup" Volleyball Tournament for its workers. This year's tournament brought together 13 men's and women's teams with over 300 supporters from various departments and workshops of the company.
According to Nguyen Thi Mai Chi, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of New Apparel Far Eastern Vietnam Co., Ltd.: "This is not only a healthy sporting event but also an opportunity to strengthen solidarity, exchange knowledge, improve health, and enhance the cultural and spiritual life of union members and employees throughout the company. With a spirit of unity, the athletes delivered spectacular plays, bringing a joyful atmosphere to the entire workforce of the factory."
Cultural and sports activities and competitions organized by the Trade Union of Dong Nai Viet Vinh Footwear Co., Ltd. (Binh Minh commune, Dong Nai province) have become familiar playgrounds for workers to relax and improve their health after work.
Ms. Ha Thi Hai, a worker and one of the regular union members participating in the movement at Dong Nai Viet Vinh Shoe Co., Ltd., said: "Over the years, I have registered to participate in the cross-country running race organized by the grassroots trade union and I feel very happy and excited. Here, I can relieve stress and have the opportunity to meet and interact with colleagues from other departments."
“The lively atmosphere of the competition, the spirit of solidarity, and the enthusiastic support from everyone have given me more motivation and a more positive attitude towards my work. I hope that the company will maintain and develop more meaningful activities to strengthen the bond among employees,” Ms. Hai shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi My Linh, General Director of Dong Nai Viet Vinh Shoe Company, shared: "The company always aims to build a friendly working environment where everyone feels cared for, supported, and has the opportunity to develop both physically and mentally. Therefore, in all activities for employees, the company's leadership participates to transmit positive energy to the workers. In addition, we increase the value of prizes to encourage workers to participate in health and fitness activities."
“For the company, employees are not just a workforce, but also partners in the sustainable development of the business. Organizing recreational, cultural, and sports activities not only helps improve the mental well-being and rejuvenate the workforce, but also creates opportunities for employees to relax, connect, and strengthen their bond with the team.”

Meeting the entertainment needs of workers.
In reality, due to the nature of long working hours, workers have few opportunities to participate in recreational activities. Many are far from home, living in cramped communal living conditions in rented accommodations, further exacerbating the lack of spiritual fulfillment. Therefore, organizing cultural events such as sports competitions, art performances, mobile film screenings, and life skills classes has brought a breath of fresh air, helping workers relax, express themselves, and connect with the community.

According to Duong Hoang An, Chairman of the Trade Union of Jason Furniture Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dong Xoai III Industrial Park, Binh Phuoc Ward): "With the company having over 6,000 employees, the need for entertainment among workers is very high. Understanding the desires of the employees, the grassroots trade union organizes a variety of competitions every year for employees to participate in. Typical examples include the Jason Golden Challenge - Intellectual and Physical Challenge; writing essays about the trade union, the company, and football tournaments; and flower arranging competitions during holidays. After each competition, employees have more energy and motivation to work more positively and effectively."
“Cultural spaces not only help workers relieve stress and improve their mental well-being, but also create an environment for them to develop soft skills, enhance their awareness of the law, protect their health, and protect the environment. Through this, workers become more passionate about their jobs, more committed to the company, and contribute positively to overall development,” Mr. Duong Hoang An shared.
At Elma Industrial Co., Ltd. (Vietnam, Nhon Trach commune), despite having over 200 employees, the sports activities organized by the grassroots trade union attract enthusiastic participation from the workers. Vo Thi Xuan Hang, Chairwoman of the Elma Industrial Co., Ltd. (Vietnam) Trade Union, stated: "Cultural life is one of the important factors contributing to improving the quality of life, creating motivation for work, retaining employees, and building a healthy and united working environment. Caring for the cultural life of employees also boosts productivity and work efficiency."
In addition to organizing competitions in person, in the context of digital transformation, many playgrounds for workers are also organized online, such as photo contests, video clip contests, online legal knowledge contests, etc., contributing to expanding the scope of access and increasing interaction.
Recently, the Provincial Labor Union launched a photo contest showcasing the beauty of female workers and employees. Each unit selected 10 of the best photos and submitted them to the Provincial Labor Union or via the Dong Nai Provincial Labor Union's Facebook page. It is noteworthy that through this online contest, union members and workers enthusiastically participated, submitting photos depicting female workers diligently at work. This served to honor the traditional beauty and the hard work and enthusiasm of female workers in labor and production.
According to Bui Thi Bich Thuy, Standing Vice President of the Provincial Labor Union: "The 'Beautiful Photos of Female Workers' Contest' is a new playground for female workers from various units and businesses to participate and showcase their beauty at work, especially their diligence. The Dong Nai Labor Union will continue to organize the 'Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba Fashion Contest.' This contest also promises to bring freshness and appeal to workers in Dong Nai."
Many effective models for caring for the spiritual well-being of workers, from the provincial to the grassroots level, have contributed to compensating for the lack of cultural recreational spaces for workers in industrial zones. However, for cultural activities to truly become a sustainable source of spiritual support for workers, it requires the joint efforts of all levels of government, trade unions, businesses, and society as a whole. Investing in the cultural life of workers is also an investment in the sustainable development of the workforce and the province.
