Adobe has quickly joined the generative AI race, led by OpenAI and Stability AI, both of which are backed by Microsoft, according to Reuters. In January 2023, Getty Images sued Stability AI, alleging that the startup had illegally used Getty’s copyrighted images to train its AI system. This raised legal questions about whether the output of such AI systems could be used commercially.
Adobe’s new tools will let video editors do things like change the lighting in a scene from midday to dusk or create a soundtrack just by typing in a few words. The tools are built on a new system called Adobe Firefly that the company introduced in March for creating still images and text.
Enter a few words to change the color of the video as you want
Adobe is one of the largest software providers for the graphics industry. The company said that products from the Adobe Firefly system will have a safe legal basis for commercial use.
With Adobe’s new video editing tool, users can ask the AI system to read a script and then automatically create a storyboard, even suggesting some shots for a rough cut of the story. For the advertising industry, the system will include the ability to shoot scenes, create soundtracks, and create different scenery depending on the country the ad is shown in.
Users can create background music quickly with this new tool
According to Ivo Manolov - Adobe's vice president of digital audio and video services for businesses, this system can create up to 1,000 versions of the same video with just one button.
Adobe is currently testing the system and plans to launch an AI-integrated video tool later this year.
