In the AEON Group's mid-term development strategy, Vietnam is identified as the second key market alongside Japan to accelerate investment. As a retailer, AEON Vietnam constantly strives to improve customers' lifestyles, contribute to socio-economic development and join hands to build a prosperous life for local communities wherever AEON is present.

AEON Vietnam's signing with colleges and universities in two cities, including two schools under the management of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is considered a premise towards signing a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Trade on implementing a project to train human resources for the Vietnamese retail industry.

This project will mark the importance of public-private partnership between state agencies and private enterprises in implementing the Domestic Trade Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Speaking at the ceremony on September 28, Ms. Le Viet Nga - Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade highly appreciated AEON Vietnam's efforts to realize its commitments to improve capacity for the retail industry, especially in the field of training and developing retail human resources:

The signing ceremony today will help enhance the employer brand image, build a good cooperative relationship between AEON Vietnam Co., Ltd. and universities and colleges in Hue and create a source of potential candidates in the Central region; at the same time, implement the commitment between AEON Group and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam on improving training and human resource development in general and training human resources in the retail industry in particular to schools under the Ministry of Industry and Trade ”.

Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, AEON Vietnam will facilitate internship programs for students from participating universities and colleges.

In addition, the Japanese retailer will coordinate with schools to organize seminars and workshops on career experience and necessary skills for students to be able to work in the retail business sector through events such as: Career Fair, Tree Planting Activities, Company Tours and Business Systems of AEON Vietnam as well as other activities.

Within the next 5 years, AEON Vietnam will realize the proposed points in the Memorandum of Understanding such as inviting schools to participate in visits to AEON shopping centers; conducting knowledge exchange activities such as seminars and thematic activities at schools and at AEON; cooperating in implementing training and career guidance programs; receiving interns, and introducing job opportunities at AEON.

At the ceremony, in parallel with the signing ceremony, the Japanese retailer also had a meeting, direct exchange and connection with universities, colleges and local authorities. On this occasion, AEON Vietnam representative shared more about AEON Vietnam's development strategy, as well as introduced the "AEON Future Leaders (AFL)" program.

In addition, AEON also cooperates with schools to organize a series of talk shows that are close and practical for students revolving around the topics: The future of retail - The role of students; Customer shopping experience and Improvement in retail; New business developers; Career change: Opportunities and challenges; Work-life balance.

This cooperation signing ceremony is one of AEON Vietnam's continuous efforts towards the goal of becoming the best workplace in the Vietnamese retail industry, in addition to the main mission of the Retailer which is to provide products and services to meet all customer needs and join hands for the goal of sustainable economic - social - environmental development of the local community.

Following the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements with universities and colleges in the Central region, the Japanese retailer will continue to carry out pre-opening activities in Hue. According to the plan, AEON Vietnam will organize a Sharing and Introduction Session with local suppliers in Hue in November 2024. Following that, a centralized recruitment day is expected to be held in August 2024 with an estimated number of about 800 employees.
