Agribank signed a coordination regulation to implement rice-linked loans and low emissions in the Mekong Delta.

On June 25, the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development - Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam (Agribank) officially signed a Coordination Regulation to implement the Loan Program linking production, processing, and consumption of high-quality and low-emission rice products in the Mekong Delta.

The program is an important part of implementing the Project on sustainable development of one million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030.

Agribank and the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development signed a coordination regulation to implement a loan program linking production, processing, and consumption of high-quality and low-emission rice products in the Mekong Delta.

The signing of the Coordination Regulation will strengthen cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and Agribank, thereby mobilizing maximum resources to successfully implement the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice in 12 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region.

Borrowers include enterprises participating in the association, enterprises providing related services; cooperative groups, cooperatives, cooperative unions, along with individuals and farming households participating in the association of production, processing and consumption of high-quality, low-emission rice products.

To participate in borrowing capital under the Program, cooperatives, cooperative unions and enterprises on the list announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, have specific linkage contracts, commit to implementing emission reduction farming processes and fully meet Agribank's loan conditions. For individuals and farming households, it is necessary to have a service supply contract or be a member of a cooperative, cooperative, or cooperative union on the list participating in the Project and meet the loan conditions according to Agribank's regulations.

The main coordination contents between the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and Agribank include: effectively implementing the loan program; reviewing and accurately identifying areas and subjects in need of loans to participate in the Project; mobilizing legal resources to implement the Project; organizing training sessions to improve capacity for loan customers; connecting and sharing information on farming techniques as well as banking products and services.

The cooperation between the two sides is expected to make an important contribution to realizing the goal of sustainable development of the rice industry in the Mekong Delta, towards green agriculture, low emissions and increased income for farmers.
