The meeting was held at the Bahrain Olympic Committee headquarters with the participation of Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee - Abbas Bouhassan and other members of the sports delegation. During the meeting, Head of the delegation Ahmed Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar congratulated the appointed members and conveyed greetings from Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee - Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, emphasizing the Olympic Committee's support in terms of policy and the need to seriously prepare for the event early.
The first coordination meeting to accelerate preparations for the multi-sport event took place at the Bahrain Olympic Committee headquarters.
Delegation chief Ahmed Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar also stressed the importance of starting preparations in advance to ensure a successful participation in this continental event. He stressed that the Bahraini delegation’s mission is to provide all necessary logistical, technical and medical support to the national teams that will compete in 24 sports, both men’s and women’s.
He also stressed that the main objective is to create optimal conditions for Bahrain’s young athletes to achieve their best results and contribute to the country’s position in the Asian Youth Medal Rankings. The main topics discussed during the meeting included the allocation of administrative staff by Federation, accommodation, transportation, logistical needs and the official registration process for sports delegations.
A further meeting with the National Sports Federations is expected to be held to finalize all aspects related to Bahrain's preparations for the Games.
Taking the opportunity, Head of Delegation Ahmed Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar called for joint efforts and enhanced coordination among all stakeholders to ensure the success of the Bahraini sports delegation at the Games.
Lounes Madene, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the 3rd Asian Youth Games, has confirmed the completion of the final sports programme. The Games, which will be hosted by Bahrain for the first time, will feature athletes from 45 countries competing in 253 events, including 124 men’s events and 114 women’s events.
President Lounes Madene also confirmed that the men's Futsal, Handball and Volleyball events will start on October 19. The final day of the Games (October 31) will feature the men's and women's swimming events, including the Medal Ceremony and Closing Ceremony.
For athletes aged 14 to 18, the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain will serve as a qualifying event for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games (scheduled to take place in Dakar in summer 2026).
