After the opening whistle, Fluminense and Al Hilal both started the game slowly. Players from both teams fought fiercely in the midfield area, but they failed to create clear chances and the match was lackluster in the first 30 minutes.

The turning point of the match came in the 40th minute, Matheus Martinelli made a dangerous shot in the Al Hilal penalty area, the ball flew into the top corner of the goal, leaving goalkeeper Bounou helpless, helping Fluminense lead 1-0.

In the first half's injury time, the referee awarded Al Hilal a penalty after determining that Samuel Xavier had fouled Leonardo in the penalty area. However, after consulting VAR technology, the referee withdrew the decision, causing a strong reaction from Al Hilal players.

Despite many difficulties, the Saudi Arabian representative still tried to attack and they unexpectedly equalized in the 51st minute. After a corner kick from his teammate, Marcos Leonardo quickly kicked the ball into the Fluminense net, bringing the match back to a 1-1 tie.

However, Al Hilal's joy did not last long, as Fluminense continued to increase the pressure. In the 70th minute, substitute Hercules scored a tricky shot, helping the Brazilian representative take a 2-1 lead.

The two teams played an open game in the last 20 minutes and created many opportunities, but goalkeepers Fabio and Bounou played so well that the match had no more goals.

Losing 1-2 to the Brazilian representative, Al Hilal officially ended their memorable journey at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Fluminense won the right to enter the semi-finals and they will meet the winner of the quarter-final match between Chelsea and Palmeiras taking place at 8am this morning (July 5).
