In front of over 72,000 spectators at the Bukit Jalil Stadium (Malaysia), the Manchester United players delivered a lackluster performance and failed to score a single goal against the ASEAN All Stars.
Following the defeat, manager Amorim took responsibility for his own actions. He said: "I've always felt guilty about the team's performance since I've been here. I feel guilty about the booing from the fans. Maybe this is what we need, because after every defeat in the Premier League, they're always there for us."
Key players like Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, and Casemiro were all used by manager Amorim in both halves. However, the "Red Devils" disappointed with a performance that was considered lackluster and uninspired.
Amorim added: "I feel their support every time a match ends. Let's wait and see next season. We need to play better. We were too slow on the pitch, lacking a winning spirit in training and in matches. We need to show respect to the fans."
On social media, many Manchester United fans were unhappy with the team's performance. One account wrote: "Is Manchester United really this bad now?" Another fan commented: "A lifeless and unmotivated performance. What is Ruben Amorim doing?"
According to the BBC , the tour to Malaysia is expected to bring in around $10 million for MU. After the match against ASEAN All Stars, the "Red Devils" will fly to Hong Kong (China) to play their next friendly match on May 30th.
