In front of more than 72,000 spectators at Bukit Jalil Stadium (Malaysia), MU players had a lifeless performance and failed to score any goals against ASEAN All Stars.
After the defeat, coach Amorim took responsibility for himself. He said: "I always feel guilty about the team's performance since I've been here. I feel guilty about the booing from the fans. Maybe this is what we need, because every time we lose in the Premier League, they are always with us."
Key players such as Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro were all used by coach Amorim in both halves. However, the "Red Devils" disappointed with a performance that was judged superficial and lacking vitality.
Amorim added: "I feel their support every time the game ends. Let's wait and see next season. We need to play better. We were too slow on the pitch, we didn't have the winning spirit in training and in games. We need to show respect to the fans."
On social media, many MU fans were not satisfied with the team's performance. One account wrote: "Is MU this bad now?" Another fan spoke up: "A soulless and unmotivated performance. What is Ruben Amorim doing?".
According to BBC , the tour to Malaysia is expected to bring in about 10 million USD for MU. After the match against ASEAN All Stars, the "Red Devils" will fly to Hong Kong (China) to play the next friendly match on May 30.
