Throughout its development, the factory has strived to build a safe and friendly working environment, focusing on improving working conditions and taking good care of the lives and health of its employees. This has not only enhanced production efficiency but also affirmed the company's social responsibility.
Located in Thuan commune, Huong Hoa district, a key cassava growing area of Quang Tri province, the Huong Hoa Cassava Starch Factory carries out large-scale agricultural processing, playing an important role in creating jobs and increasing income for many local workers.
Over the years, occupational safety and health (OSH) work at the factory has been implemented comprehensively and systematically, with close coordination between the specialized department, the occupational safety committee, and related units. From establishing regulations and skills training to periodic inspections and handling situations, all activities are aimed at building an absolutely safe working environment and minimizing risks for workers.
According to Le Duc Vuong, Deputy Director and Deputy Head of the Occupational Safety Committee of Huong Hoa Cassava Starch Factory, from 2022 to the present, the number of workers at the factory has remained stable at over 200 people, of which nearly 20% are female workers. The division of labor in production is rational and scientific .
Equipment and machinery requiring strict safety standards are regularly inspected by competent authorities to ensure working conditions meet standards. All workers are provided with appropriate personal protective equipment for their respective jobs, such as safety helmets, gloves, masks, face shields, boots, and safety glasses, and receive annual training on occupational safety and health. In particular, workplace risk assessments are conducted periodically to proactively prevent accidents and occupational diseases.
Thanks to the strict implementation of safety protection and control measures, the factory has not experienced any serious workplace accidents in the past three years. The factory also prioritizes employee health care, organizing annual health check-ups for 100% of its workers. Health classification results show that the majority of employees achieved a health rating of II or higher, reflecting a stable working environment, guaranteed production conditions, and adequate attention paid to the material and spiritual well-being of the workers.
In addition to prioritizing workplace safety, the factory also effectively implements fire prevention and fighting measures. On-site fire prevention and fighting plans are developed specifically and realistically. The factory's fire fighting force receives regular training; equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, and water systems are inspected and replenished regularly.
In 2024, the factory acquired an additional 50 fire extinguishers at a total cost of 15 million VND, serving fire prevention and control efforts during prolonged periods of hot and dry weather. Over the past three years, the unit has not experienced any fire or explosion incidents, demonstrating its proactive approach and high sense of responsibility in ensuring the safety of people and property.
In the field of environmental protection, Huong Hoa Cassava Starch Factory always strictly complies with legal regulations. Ordinary waste is collected and processed under contract with the urban environmental unit of Huong Hoa district. Hazardous waste is classified and transferred according to proper procedures to a qualified treatment facility.
In particular, the factory has been innovative in utilizing by-products from production such as cassava pulp for animal feed; reusing treated wastewater; and using biogas as fuel... contributing to reduced production costs while effectively protecting the environment.
Environmental parameters such as dust, toxic gases, and noise in the workplace are measured twice a year by the Quang Tri Resource and Environment Monitoring Center to ensure they do not exceed permissible limits. This helps in the early detection and timely handling of harmful factors, preventing adverse effects on workers' health.
Along with technical measures, the factory also maintains the effective implementation of the 5S movement in production management. This is a model adopted by many advanced businesses to improve work efficiency and keep the workplace clean, tidy, and safe. Warning signs, equipment nameplates, and production process diagrams are fully installed, helping workers easily identify safety hazards and proactively prevent them.
Investment in occupational safety and health at the factory is carried out according to a specific plan. The factory allocates hundreds of millions of VND each year to purchase protective equipment and supplies, conduct environmental measurements, provide safety training, and improve working conditions.
This is to fulfill the legally mandated responsibilities and the long-term commitment of the unit's leadership to the goal of sustainable development, linking production with people and the environment. Factory staff continuously innovate management thinking, raise awareness and responsibility of each employee, and gradually build a culture of safety and positive work ethic, laying the foundation for stable and sustainable development in the future.
