Tay Ninh - historical land

In his opening speech, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh emphasized: “The political art program “Tay Ninh - Song of Pride” wants to recount the heroic history, the difficulties, challenges as well as the resilience of the Party Committee, government and people of Tay Ninh in the new period”.

Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh speaks at the opening ceremony of the political art program "Tay Ninh - Song of Pride".

Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh reviewed the glorious tradition and indomitable spirit of Tay Ninh province: since the August Revolution in 1945, Tay Ninh Party Committee with only 25 members united, strictly followed the directives of the Southern Regional Party Committee, and gathered a large number of people from all walks of life to rise up and seize power. On February 1, 1946, witnessed by the people of An Tinh (Trang Bang district), at the Rong Forest relic, the Trang Bang District Self-Defense Combat Team was established.

Under the red flag with yellow star, the revolutionary soldiers solemnly recited the oath: “Independence or death. Die as a free man rather than live as a slave. Even if my hair and beard turn white, I will still fight. Even if I have to sacrifice my father’s life, my children will continue to fight.” Continuing the glorious career of the Rung Rong revolutionary youth of that day, in the Dong Khoi movement in 1960, Battalion 14 was established and became the main unit of Tay Ninh province.

The program was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang; Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh; Secretary of Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Tam.

From the “starting shot” of the Tua Hai victory on the night of January 26, 1960, the Southern Regional Party Committee led the people in political struggle combined with armed struggle to create the Dong Khoi uprising in Ben Tre, some southern provinces and some central provinces. According to the policy of the Politburo, under the direct leadership of the Southern Regional Party Committee, at the end of 1960, the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam was born. The whole South rose up under the flag of the Front (the upper half was red, the lower half was blue, with a yellow star in the middle).

The US and the puppet government of Saigon knew clearly that the Central Office for Southern Vietnam - based in the North Tay Ninh region - was the brain of the Southern revolution, so they organized many sweep operations to "search and destroy", the largest of which was the Junction City operation.

This was a decisive battle in which the US mobilized more than 3 divisions with over 45,000 troops. With the will to die, the Tay Ninh army and people and the main forces fought tenaciously, preserving the Central Office Base of the South, maintaining the leadership role of the revolution in the South.

The song "Dong Grassland" (Composer: Musician Truong Quang Luc) performed by singer Duc Tuan.

With the performance "Tu Van" (Composer: Truong Quoc Khanh), singer Ho Quynh Huong and Phuong Viet Dance Group moved the audience.

"We cannot help but feel pain when, right after the country was unified, the reactionary Pol Pot clique sent a large force of main force infantry and special forces to carry out massacres, arson, and savage looting, causing serious damage to people and property of our people," said Mr. Le Quoc Minh.

In Tan Lap commune, Tan Bien district alone, they murdered 506 people, injured 135 people, including 20 families whose entire families were murdered. The most tragic incident was that 11 teachers of Tan Thanh Primary School were massacred and their bodies thrown into a well. After that, Tay Ninh armed forces coordinated with the main forces of Military Region 7 and Army Corps 4 to attack and pursue the enemy along the entire border, opening the general offensive campaign to liberate Cambodia; and it was a great pride that Tay Ninh fulfilled its international duty, providing human and material support to Kampong Cham province for 10 years (1979-1989).

Overcome difficulties , together we rise up

After April 30, 1975, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the Tay Ninh army and people simultaneously healed the wounds of war and fought to protect the southwestern border of the Fatherland. During the period of 1975-1985, the Tay Ninh army and people focused on the main task of reforming, building and developing the economy according to the Resolutions of the 4th and 5th Congresses of the Party, mainly taking food production as the top central task. Tay Ninh - from having to receive support from the Central Government - has strived to rise up, not only being self-sufficient in food, but also fulfilling its obligations to the Central Government and creating large specialized areas of the country such as: sugarcane, peanuts, rubber, rice.

In the period 2010-2015, Tay Ninh's GRDP increased by an average of 10.5% per year. The material and spiritual life of the people has been significantly improved. Foreign cooperation relations have been maintained regularly and effectively; building a peaceful and friendly border, maintaining border sovereignty and security.

In the period 2016-2020, the province's GRDP reached 7.2% - higher than the national level. The average GRDP per capita in 2020 reached 3,135 USD, 1.5 times higher than in 2015. From a purely agricultural province, Tay Ninh has had quite good industrial growth, being among the leading localities in the country in solar power. By 2020, the whole province had 350 foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of nearly 7.8 billion USD. The appearance from urban to rural areas is spacious, clean and beautiful, the poverty rate has decreased sharply.

The high-altitude fireworks display at Ba Den Mountain left many impressions, making locals and tourists feel satisfied.

After half of the 2020-2025 term, Tay Ninh province has achieved many important socio-economic achievements, as set out in the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress. In particular, the trade system has developed rapidly and widely. Total retail sales of goods and revenue from service sectors increased by an average of 9.8% per year, of which the retail sector accounted for an average proportion of over 80%. The work of demarcation and marker planting achieved important results, contributing to the overall completion of 84% of the work volume of demarcation and marker planting along the entire Vietnam-Cambodia land border.

As the land of “going first, coming last” in the joy of victory of the entire nation, Tay Ninh today is a sacred land, rich in potential and advantages for socio-economic development. To achieve the results as today, the government, army and people of Tay Ninh had difficult times that seemed impossible to overcome. However, with the tradition of indomitability, solidarity, courage, resilience in the revolutionary struggle, diligence, hard work, dynamism, creativity and existing cultural depth, the Party Committee, government and people of Tay Ninh have joined hands and hearts, together writing a new page of history.

The political art program “Tay Ninh - Song of Pride” was divided into two chapters. In chapter I: “Tay Ninh - Historical War Zone”, delegates and a large number of people and tourists enjoyed many songs such as: “Spring War Zone” (composed by Xuan Hong) performed by the male and female choir and the Ngoc Trai Viet dance group; “Vam Co Dong” (composed by Truong Quang Luc) performed by singer Duc Tuan; “Bong lily red” (composed by the late Meritorious Artist Thanh Hien) performed by Meritorious Artist Thien Hoa and the Ngoc Trai Viet dance group; especially, the song “Tu nguyen” (composed by Truong Quoc Khanh) performed by singer Ho Quynh Huong and the Phuong Viet dance group touched the hearts of the audience.

In chapter II - Radiant Tay Ninh is performed by more than 100 artisans and artists through folk dance performances, typical dances of Tay Ninh ethnic groups, Chhay dam drum dance... The ethnic music group performs solo including the Co (Tay Ninh characteristic) and Kim (Southern characteristic).
