[Photo] Crane falls on container truck and car at traffic construction site

NDO - A crane inside a construction site suddenly fell down, crushing a container truck and a car on My Thuy bridge, Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh city.

On the afternoon of May 31, the functional forces of Cat Lai Ward, Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with the Cat Lai Traffic Police Team (Road and Railway Traffic Police Department (PC08), Ho Chi Minh City Police, to investigate the cause of the crane incident at the My Thuy intersection construction site that suddenly collapsed, crushing two cars in traffic.

The incident happened around 1:00 p.m., when vehicles were traveling on Vo Chi Cong Street from Phu My Bridge to Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway.

While a car was traveling on the overpass branch crossing the intersection with Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, the crane from the construction site at My Thuy intersection collapsed onto the road.

Container truck and 7-seat car were crushed by crane, causing severe damage to the front of the car.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, but the cabin of the container truck and the car were severely damaged.

Authorities and construction units quickly arrived at the scene to promptly handle the situation to avoid prolonged congestion at the My Thuy intersection, a traffic hotspot at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.

The construction project is divided into 3 phases, in which some items in phases 1 and 2 will be put into operation from 2019 to 2021 such as: left-turn underpass, 4-lane overpass on Ring Road 2, Ky Ha 3 bridge (left branch) and My Thuy 3 bridge with 6 lanes.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
