On the morning of March 21st, at 71 Hang Trong Street, Hanoi , Nhan Dan Newspaper organized the program "Meeting the pilots of the Victory Squadron".

The exchange was attended by two members of the Victory Squadron in the North: Colonel Nguyen Van Luc - Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Commander of the Victory Squadron; and Colonel Han Van Quang - Hero of the People's Armed Forces, member of the Victory Squadron.

The program also featured Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff, former Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Air Defense-Air Force Command, and former pilot of Mig21, Su22, and Su27 aircraft.

The program was organized to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The Victory Squadron, consisting of six pilots, carried out the bombing raid on Tan Son Nhat airport on April 28, 1975. This is considered the sixth airborne assault by the Vietnamese Air Force, facilitating the remaining five columns of troops in liberating Saigon.

At 4:15 PM on April 28, 1975, the Victory Squadron, consisting of six pilots: Nguyen Van Luc, Han Van Quang, Nguyen Thanh Trung, Tu De, Hoang Mai Vuong, and Tran Van On (a pilot retained by the old regime), flew five A37 aircraft simultaneously towards Tan Son Nhat Airport, creating a deafening bombing raid that shook the entire city of Saigon. At exactly 6:15 PM on April 28, 1975, the entire squadron landed safely at Thanh Son Airport (Phan Rang) without any casualties.

After peace was restored, pilot Hoang Mai Vuong was killed in action. To this day, five members of the Quyet Thang (Victory) Squadron are still alive.

Here are some photos from the meeting.
