The 15-minute high-altitude fireworks display at the beginning of the Saigon River tunnel delighted the people watching.

At exactly 9 p.m., fireworks were simultaneously launched at high altitude at the beginning of the Saigon River tunnel (Thu Duc City) and low altitude at Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11).

The 15-minute program celebrates the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Some of the fireworks were covered in smoke but still had brilliant colors. "Even though it rained in Saigon this afternoon, the fireworks this year were beautiful," said Ms. Thanh, in District 8.

Standing on a high-rise building in Thu Duc City, a male security guard used his phone to record the fireworks display.

Across the river, at Ben Bach Dang Park, District 1, thousands of people eagerly enjoyed the high-altitude fireworks display amid cheers and applause.

Mr. Ry took Truc Ly from Nha Be district to Bach Dang wharf to watch the fireworks. "I have watched the fireworks many times. Now my niece from Dak Lak is visiting, so I took her to see it," he said.

Mr. Thien Minh, 42 years old, brought raincoats and food to take his two children, aged 4 and 6, to the sidewalk of Thu Thiem urban area to wait from 6:30 pm to watch the fireworks. When the series of fireworks exploded in the sky, his whole family took a souvenir photo. "This is the first time my son has seen fireworks outdoors, so he really enjoyed it. The whole family went early to get a good position, so it took a lot of time," said Mr. Minh.

Bach Dang Wharf Park was crowded with people watching fireworks.

On the occasion of September 2 this year, Ho Chi Minh City will also organize artistic lighting decorations on Nguyen Hue walking street and a hot air balloon release program on September 2-3 on Nguyen Thien Thanh street (Thu Duc city).
