Anker recalls more than 1 million power banks due to fire risk in the US

Anker is announcing an urgent recall of more than 1 million power banks due to fire and explosion risks in the US market.

According to Digital Trends , Anker is one of the most popular technology accessory brands today. Recently, the company suddenly issued an urgent recall notice for more than 1 million PowerCore 10000 backup chargers due to the risk of serious overheating that can lead to fire and explosion, endangering users.

Anker's decision came after the company received 19 reports of fire and explosion incidents, including two cases of minor burns and 11 cases of property damage totaling more than $60,000.

Although the recall program was announced in the US, the Anker PowerCore 10000 backup charger line is also quite popular in Vietnam through online sales channels and hand-carried goods. Therefore, users need to pay special attention and immediately check the product they own.

Is your product affected?

Anker says only one product model is affected this time around:

• Product name: Anker PowerCore 10000
• Model Number: A1263 (printed on the bottom of the charger)

If the power bank has the above model number, Anker recommends that users stop using it immediately to ensure safety and take steps to get a free replacement. Anker has provided a fairly simple return process and does not require users to send back the defective product:

First, take a clear photo of the A1263 power bank. The photo must clearly show information such as model number, serial number, customer name and date of photo taking.

Using a permanent marker, write 'recalled' on the body of the power bank before taking a photo. Then, go to Anker's official website to submit a replacement request with the photo. The company does not require a receipt of purchase.

Anker also recommends that users dispose of old products safely. Accordingly, never throw a faulty power bank into the regular trash because of the risk of fire or explosion. Contact your local electronic waste collection point, hazardous waste collection point, or old battery take-back program for proper disposal. Users will need to confirm safe disposal before receiving a new product.
