As noted by MacRumors , Apple has just removed a new ad just one day after posting it, marking this the fourth time the company has made a similar move in over a year.

The ad, which was removed nearly eight minutes long, was titled “The Parent Presentation.” It featured comedian Martin Herlihy, who gave advice to students on how to convince their parents to buy a Mac.

The ad was posted by Apple on June 20. However, just one day later, the clip disappeared from both the company's official YouTube channel and its university student website.

Notably, the iPhone maker also released an 81-slide presentation to accompany the ad, which purportedly provides parents with “45 irrefutable reasons why a Mac is essential for college.” The presentation is still available for download on Apple’s official website, although the ad has since been removed.

This is not the first time Apple has faced negative public backlash over its product marketing campaigns.

In May 2024, Apple had to officially apologize for the “Crush!” commercial. The controversial clip featured a giant hydraulic press crushing a series of items that symbolize creativity, such as a piano, a record player, paint cans, and many other art tools. Finally, the press lifted up to reveal the newly launched iPad Pro.

Although the ad was intended to demonstrate the ability to perform multiple creative tasks on a single device, it sparked widespread criticism from the online community and experts. Many felt that the video conveyed a negative message, showing destruction rather than creation. Under pressure from public opinion, Apple quickly removed the ad from its TV channels before officially removing it from the YouTube platform.

In August 2024, Apple removed a 10-minute commercial called “Out of Office OOO,” which depicted a group of coworkers using Apple products during a business trip to Thailand. The ad was met with harsh criticism from Thai citizens and lawmakers, who said Apple portrayed the country in a stereotypical and outdated way that did not reflect reality.

Most recently, in March of this year, Apple removed an iPhone 16 ad starring Bella Ramsey, famous for the Last of Us series. The ad was used to promote an AI-powered Siri feature, with notable capabilities that aren't yet available in the real world, like remembering the names of people you met months ago. The promotion of an unreleased feature may have been the reason for the ad's removal.

Unlike previous ads removed by Apple over the past year, no clear reason has been given for the removal of “The Parent Presentation” ad.

Some users on social media have expressed their displeasure and questioned the target audience of this ad. The lack of transparency in the reason for this latest ad removal raises more questions about Apple's communication strategy.
