Apple is about to completely change the way users take photos with their iPhones.

According to Bloomberg , Apple is planning to upgrade several key applications in iOS 27, most notably the camera and Siri assistant.

With this new approach, the device allows users to customize the camera interface to their liking. Analyst Mark Gurman describes the default app as retaining the current layout, but users can customize features and button placement, also known as widgets.

Customizable features include flash, exposure, timer, resolution, and depth of field. These widgets are divided into basic, manual, and advanced settings groups, located at the top of the camera interface.

"In addition to providing a more personalized experience, these changes could also appeal to professional users," Gurman quoted an internal source as saying.

Based on the description, each shooting mode will have its own set of widgets. The app also includes grid and leveling options. The button to activate the control menu has been moved from the top right corner of the screen to the right of the shutter button.

The camera app on iOS 27 also integrates Siri mode, allowing for object recognition and text translation via Visual Intelligence.

Siri itself in iOS 27 has been revamped, becoming a constantly active agent that extracts data and manipulates various applications. Apple will redesign Siri's interface to be a chatbot similar to ChatGPT and Gemini.

Siri's interface is integrated into Dynamic Island. When activated, the assistant effect appears at the top of the screen. Users can also open a new search bar by swiping down from the top center of the screen. Siri's results are displayed as cards, which can be swiped to access chatbot mode.

Another significant improvement comes from its web search capabilities. A Bloomberg writer notes that Siri can now provide detailed answers to general knowledge questions. The assistant will also have its own app, displaying conversation history and a "+" sign to upload photos and documents.

Safari on iOS 27 features a new Start Page with four tabs at the top to switch between favorites, bookmarks, saved websites, and browsing history.

The Weather app has been slightly refined with a Conditions section, allowing quick access to data such as rainfall and wind. Meanwhile, the Image Playground photo editing app has a new, simpler, and easier-to-use interface.

Apple has also made some system-wide adjustments, such as the search button at the bottom of the screen now being integrated with other tabs, instead of being separate and circular. The system also adds an undo button when rearranging widgets and icons on the home screen.

While Apple prepares to launch iOS 27 in early June, Google has just introduced Android 17 and Gemini Intelligence. Some notable features include AI-powered widget creation, a new speech-to-text mode, and a system of agents that work seamlessly across devices.
