On September 26, Democratic candidate and US Vice President Kamala Harris held her seventh meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reaffirming that her support for the Ukrainian people is “unwavering”. The US Vice President stressed that the US cannot and should not isolate itself from the rest of the world because isolation is not protection. Therefore, according to the Democratic candidate, Washington's support for Kiev is not out of charity, but because it is in the US's strategic interests and the US will continue to provide the security assistance that Ukraine needs to succeed on the battlefield. Ms. Harris frankly shared that in the US "there are some who want to force Ukraine to give up large parts of its sovereign territory, demand that Ukraine accept neutrality and abandon security relations with other countries". However, according to Ms. Harris, "these are not proposals for peace. Instead, they are proposals for surrender, which is dangerous and unacceptable". Previously, when sharing in an interview podcast broadcast by YouTube channel "The Shawn Ryan Show" on September 12, Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance affirmed that Mr. Trump would sit down at the negotiating table with the leaders of the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Europe and say: "You need to imagine what a peaceful settlement looks like." The Ohio senator described the agreement that Republican presidential candidate, former US President Donald Trump, would pursue, including several key provisions: The Russian Federation would retain the occupied areas and the two sides would establish a demilitarized zone along the occupation line of the two countries' armies on the battlefield. In the above demilitarized zone, Kiev would concentrate troops to invest in strong defense lines to prevent other attacks from the Russian Federation. Mr. Vance said that although Ukraine would still be a sovereign independent country, Moscow would still receive "guarantees of neutrality" from Kiev. "Ukraine will not join NATO. They will not join any of these alliances. I think that's what it will ultimately be," the US vice presidential candidate added.

Commenting on Mr. Vance's proposals to end hostilities with the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian President said that it was a bad idea that could lead to a global conflict.
"His message seems to be that Ukraine must make sacrifices. This brings us back to the question of what price to pay and who will pay it. The idea that this war will end by forcing Ukraine to pay is unacceptable," Zelensky said. If Vance's plan were implemented, Ukraine would have to accept a territorial exchange to stop the war, Zelensky said. "But it is certain that this will not happen. Such a scenario has no basis in international norms, in UN law, in justice. And it does not necessarily end the war. It is just a slogan," Zelensky said. According to the Ukrainian president, Vance and Trump's views on the situation seem to have differences, even though the two politicians are running together. "I must say that Mr. Trump is not like that. He and I spoke on the phone, and his message was as positive as possible, in my opinion," Mr. Zelensky added. According to the Ukrainian president, any US presidential or vice presidential candidate who suggests ending the fighting by making Kiev give up its territory is responsible for the possibility of provoking a global war. "Because he will imply to the world that such behavior is acceptable," Mr. Zelensky explained.
