Protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands is the sacred responsibility of the entire nation, in which the press plays an equally important role. Because the press not only spreads information but also arouses patriotism, fosters the strong will to defend every inch of the sacred sea and islands of the Fatherland.

Every year, hundreds of journalists and reporters from all over the country, regardless of the storms and hardships, come to Truong Sa, DK1 platform... They bring back emotional and authentic articles, reports, and films about the lives and duties of officers and soldiers of the Navy, Coast Guard, and Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance... who are day and night protecting every inch of the Fatherland.

Journalist Le Doan Xuan, Agriculture and Environment Newspaper, said that before his trip to Truong Sa, he listened to the heartfelt words of journalist Trinh Xuan Ba ​​- a veteran writer of Tien Phong Newspaper: "The first time setting foot on Truong Sa was an unforgettable experience, filled with pride, emotion and admiration. It was not just a professional trip but a journey of the heart, awakening a deeper love for the sea and islands than ever before." Those words made him appreciate the journey he was about to take even more.

Returning from a working trip with Working Group No. 23, journalist Doan Xuan brought with him countless images, stories and deep impressions from that windy and sunny island. "Every island I set foot on, whether it was a submerged island or a floating island, a rig or a rocky beach in the middle of the sea, all had their own majestic beauty. Seeing with my own eyes the sovereignty marker standing tall in the middle of the ocean, my emotions were filled with indescribable pride," journalist Le Doan Xuan shared.

Every year, the Navy Command organizes many working delegations to visit and work in Truong Sa archipelago.

He emotionally talked about the people at the forefront: "Amidst countless difficulties, they still firmly hold on, building an increasingly prosperous life. Each person here is a living milestone, contributing to affirming sovereignty through their presence and firm belief in the Fatherland."

One of the things that impressed journalist Doan Xuan the most was the affection between the army and the people on the remote island. "It is a sincere, warm, close-knit affection like that of relatives in a big family. They live together, share difficulties, and together cultivate the ideal and belief in protecting the sacred sea and islands," commented journalist Doan Xuan.

Although the trips to the islands were not long, they were enough to leave unforgettable emotions in the hearts of journalists. "The interviews, photos, and films from Truong Sa are vivid documents and a great source of inspiration for me to tell the most authentic stories to millions of readers at home and abroad," journalist Doan Xuan added.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association emphasized: "Sovereignty over seas and islands is a sacred issue, with strategic significance in terms of national defense, security, economy and diplomacy. In the context of the complex regional situation, the press is a vanguard force on the ideological and information front, contributing to raising public awareness of the role and position of seas and islands in the cause of national construction and protection."

According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, the press has been making remarkable contributions in informing and propagating the situation of the sea and islands and affirming sovereignty in the East Sea. Every year, many press agencies organize working groups to Truong Sa and DK1 platform to record the daily, emotional stories of marine soldiers and fishermen.

"Many reporters do not hesitate to face difficulties and dangers to go to Truong Sa, DK1 or other remote islands. This is a silent sacrifice that is very valuable, contributing to arousing patriotism, national traditions and building a strong, integrated Vietnam," Mr. Le Quoc Minh added.

However, to meet the increasing demands, the current team of journalists also needs to constantly train their political skills, improve their professional skills, especially knowledge of international law, regional geopolitics and new media technology. The Vietnam Journalists Association is actively promoting digital transformation of journalism, supporting in-depth training for journalists, especially in the fields of security, national defense and sea and islands.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh also requested that, in the coming time, press agencies need to continue to promote propaganda about history, law and evidence affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos; at the same time, focus on forming "sovereignty consciousness" among all people, especially the young generation; improve the quality of information on cyberspace, effectively refute false arguments... Proactive international communication so that international friends can clearly understand Vietnam's just stance is also an urgent requirement.
