This is the wish of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha when visiting, giving gifts and wishing a happy new year to policy families, poor households and workers in difficult circumstances in Chau Duc district (Ba Ria-Vung Tau province).
In the first days of the new year 2025 and in preparation for the Lunar New Year, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his emotions when visiting and wishing a happy new year to the Party Committee, government, army and people of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province; sending warm regards from General Secretary To Lam , Party and State leaders and his personal affection to the Party Committee, government and people in the whole province.
Informing about some outstanding socio -economic results of the country in 2024, the Deputy Prime Minister said that with the economic growth of 7.09% for the whole year, Vietnam is in the high growth group in the region and the world, the economic scale reached 476.3 billion USD, ranked 33rd among the major economies of the world; state budget revenue exceeded 2 million billion VND.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau province also made a very important contribution when it achieved an impressive growth rate of 11.72%, the highest in the Southeast region and third in the country.
Along with development achievements, the Party and State always pay special attention to taking care of people's lives, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, considering this an urgent requirement, a key and strategic task of the country's rapid and sustainable development process. "We have devoted huge resources to implementing social security policies, especially implementing three target programs: Building new rural areas; developing the economy and society of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas; sustainable hunger and poverty reduction; housing for low-income people and workers," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Thereby, the poverty rate was reduced to 1.93%; health care and spiritual and cultural life continued to improve; thereby contributing to raising the happiness index in 2024 by 11 places, ranking 54/143 countries in the world. Vietnam is considered by the international community as a bright spot in the world in the fight against poverty.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his delight that Ba Ria-Vung Tau province had fulfilled 13/14 economic and budget targets; 16/16 socio-cultural targets, and 7/7 environmental targets. GRDP per capita reached over 9,000 USD/person/year. Party committees and authorities at all levels have focused on social security policies, hunger eradication, and poverty reduction. To date, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has no poor or near-poor households according to national standards.
The province has implemented a health insurance support policy for about 47,000 people aged 65 and over since August 1, 2024; and tuition support for kindergarten, middle school, and high school students.
During the Lunar New Year of At Ty, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province took care of Tet for people with revolutionary contributions, more than 29,000 social protection beneficiaries, visited and encouraged officers and soldiers on DK1 platform; organized programs "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Ung Dang" and "Tet Union Market" for 135,000 workers. Ensuring that every family had a reunion, full, joyful and excited Tet according to the tradition of the nation.
"Ba Ria-Vung Tau needs to continue to pioneer in implementing social security policies, leaving no one behind, and paying attention to every home and every difficult situation," said Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that in the coming time, the Party and State will continue to innovate and create institutions, legal policies, build a serving administration, a "Refined - Lean - Strong - Effective - Efficient - Effective" apparatus; use state resources, mobilize social resources for infrastructure development to create a favorable environment for all economic sectors and each person to have the opportunity to enrich themselves.
The Government, the Prime Minister and authorities at all levels are highly determined, setting a high growth target (8%), creating more jobs, income and having more state resources to implement social security policies for people with meritorious services, ethnic minorities, people in difficult circumstances in remote areas, policies on employment, social insurance, unemployment insurance, social assistance, poverty reduction, and policies to improve social welfare.
"Ba Ria-Vung Tau needs to prepare cultural, social, medical and educational infrastructure to create an attractive, clean and livable environment to attract and welcome a new wave of investment," Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha noted.
The Government has submitted to the National Assembly and issued under its authority policies on housing, land, and social insurance with many new regulations to ensure living conditions for policy beneficiaries, ethnic minorities, workers, and learning conditions for children of workers. The age of receiving monthly allowances for the elderly without pensions has been reduced to 75 years old (the old regulation was 80 years old); for people in poor and near-poor households, those from 70 to under 75 years old are entitled to social pension benefits.
The Prime Minister has issued a policy to support housing for people with revolutionary contributions; launched the movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" to be completed in 2025. Ba Ria-Vung Tau needs to quickly complete the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in accordance with local development conditions, and actively support other provinces and cities.
Emphasizing that the Government will focus on synchronously implementing sustainable poverty reduction solutions in a multidimensional, inclusive manner, ensuring a minimum standard of living and basic social services, the Deputy Prime Minister gave an example in healthcare, where everyone needs to be monitored and have regular health check-ups, not waiting until a disease is detected to receive treatment, "prevention is better than cure".
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested ministries, sectors and localities to continue reviewing and proposing creative initiatives to both attract investment and ensure social security. Synchronously and effectively implement policies and strategies on poverty reduction, suitable to the characteristics of each locality and region.
The Party Committee and authorities at all levels of Ba Ria-Vung Tau need to review, continue to pay attention to investment, attract investment in developing infrastructure in culture, health, education; implement social security policies so that in the near future, people can enjoy high-quality social services; multi-layered social security system; live in a clean, safe environment; improve the happiness index.
The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that during the Lunar New Year, the province needs to organize practical activities to support families to celebrate a "warm, complete and happy" New Year, especially those living alone and workers who cannot return home to celebrate the New Year.
