Make effective use of seaport advantages
Ba Ria - Vung Tau has a high economic growth rate, identified as a province with an important growth rate in the country, with GRDP per capita always among the leading localities (in 2024, GRDP per capita in the province is estimated at 460.63 million VND/person/year).
With its strategic location in the Southern Key Economic Zone, last year Ba Ria - Vung Tau effectively took advantage of the domestic and international context, focusing on developing infrastructure systems and high-quality human resources. The potentials of marine economy , international seaports, processing industry, renewable energy and green tourism are increasingly exploited and promoted.

In particular, Ba Ria - Vung Tau has a position in seaport services. According to the Master Plan for the development of Vietnam's seaport system in the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport is classified as a special national port. It is expected that by 2030, goods passing through this group of seaports will reach 461 - 540 million tons. In particular, Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster in the province has a natural deep channel, located on an international shipping route, capable of receiving large ships with a tonnage of up to 250,000 tons (about 24,000 TEU). This place is always bustling with weekly routes to Asia, Europe, and America.
In the future, this port cluster is oriented to become a world-class and regional international transit port.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province Nguyen Van Tho always emphasized that, with favorable conditions, the logistics industry has been identified as one of the four economic pillars of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. The province's goal is that by 2025, Ba Ria - Vung Tau will be the national maritime economic center; the maritime service center of Southeast Asia; a high-quality international tourism center; one of the major logistics centers, the hub of the Southeast region.
To develop to match its role as a gateway connecting the Southeast region's economy with the whole country, and as a gateway for international trade via sea routes, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has proposed plans to develop a connecting transport infrastructure system.
Affirming our position as a leading logistics center
The Southeast is considered a potential and attractive market for the logistics industry to develop. Currently, the Southeast region has about 14,800 logistics service providers, accounting for nearly 50% of the total number of logistics enterprises in the country.
Compared to other localities in the Southeast region, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has more favorable factors to develop the logistics service industry: located on the Trans-Asia route, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has a deep-water port system classified as a special national category; at the same time, it plays the role of the region's gateway to the sea.
Taking advantage of the transportation system connecting the seaport with Long Thanh international airport and large industrial zones, the local government is focusing on developing the logistics industry into a key driving force for the development of the marine and regional economy.

Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster is capable of receiving super-heavy ships from 80,000-250,000 tons (6,000-24,000 TEU) and larger, transporting more than 60% of the country's container cargo volume, becoming an important hub in the global supply chain.
With a synchronous and modern traffic system that continues to be invested in to form a multimodal traffic system; interconnected and synchronous, between the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port system - Cai Mep Ha logistics center - Long Thanh international airport - International financial center in Ho Chi Minh City.
With the aspiration to become a leading logistics service center in the Southeast region, in recent times, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has continuously improved its infrastructure, developed high-quality human resources and enhanced the efficiency of logistics services.
At the same time, promote cooperation with international partners to attract capital, technology, and experience in logistics development. In addition, promoting the application of technology in logistics, such as the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in transportation and warehousing activities, will help improve operational efficiency and reduce costs for businesses.
These initiatives are expected to be important factors to help Ba Ria-Vung Tau soon reach the goal of becoming a national marine economic center by 2025; a maritime service center of Southeast Asia; a high-quality international tourism center; and one of the major logistics centers as a hub of the Southeast region.
