(BL-HT) On the afternoon of February 28, in Can Tho City, the Mekong Delta Tourism Association held a conference to summarize 2024 and deploy directions and tasks for 2025. Attending the conference were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of 13 provinces and cities in the region.
2024 marks a strong growth in regional tourism with a total of nearly 52.2 million visitors, an increase of 15.94% compared to 2023. Of which, international visitors increased by 49.44%, domestic visitors increased by 13.36% compared to the previous year. The increase in visitors has helped many types of tourism services develop, bringing in total revenue of more than 62,000 billion VND. These figures show the continuous efforts of the entire industry in promoting linkages, cooperation, tourism promotion, and improving the quality of services and products.
During the year, the Association organized a survey team to assess 10 destinations in 6 provinces. As a result, 9 new tourist destinations were recognized (including Cao Van Lau Theater), bringing the total number of typical tourist destinations in the region to 62.
At the conference, delegates proposed a number of solutions to continue promoting the development of the tourism industry in 2025 such as: strengthening tourism promotion, especially applying digital transformation; building a common tourism product chain between localities; focusing on developing green tourism products associated with experiential activities for tourists...
On this occasion, the Mekong Delta Tourism Association awarded certificates of merit to units with outstanding contributions to the development of regional tourism in 2024. In particular, Bac Lieu has the Provincial Tourism Promotion Center and Hoa Binh 1 Wind Power Eco-tourism Area being awarded.
