Vietnam achieves excellent results at the 2025 International STEM Olympiad

GD&TĐ - Vietnamese students won 4 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals and 3 Bronze medals at the 2025 International STEM Olympiad.

On July 17, information from the Vietnam Physics Association said that the Vietnamese student delegation had just achieved excellent results at the 2025 International STEM Olympiad held in Barcelona, Spain with 4 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals and 3 Bronze medals.

The International STEM Olympiad is the world's largest STEM competition for students from grades 1 to 12 with 3 subjects: Information Technology, Mathematics and Science . The competition is held annually, attracting more than 100,000 students from more than 117 countries and territories.

Held for the 5th time, the International STEM Olympiad 2025 attracted more than 500 students from 117 countries and territories around the world . The Grand Final was held in Spain with more than 500 students from 36 countries participating.

The 2025 Vietnam team consists of 8 students from grades 4 to 11 from primary, middle and high schools across the country. These students were selected from more than 1,000 candidates participating in the online qualifying round held earlier.

The Vietnam Physics Society is the only representative in Vietnam to organize the International STEM Olympiad in Vietnam with the criteria of providing a useful, interesting and open playground for students to approach STEM knowledge in a more practical, vivid and memorable way.

By taking part in the exam, students will have the opportunity to participate in interesting experiences at large museums with realistic models, and attend 5D science film screenings, helping them gain a natural amount of knowledge in addition to the academic knowledge in books...

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Cao Khang - Head of the Vietnamese delegation to the 2025 International STEM Olympiad - added that the participants of the STEM Olympiad are students from grades 1 to 12 for Math/Science and students from grades 2 to 12 for Coding.

The competition consists of 3 rounds: National Round and International Round in online format; Grand Final Round takes place live in Barcelona, Spain. In 2025, the Vietnamese delegation will participate in the Grand Final Round with 8 students and supporting teachers.

In addition to the 3 individual competitions, the Vietnamese students also participated in the DIY Project team competition and the AI challenge - a new competition in 2025 for middle school and high school students. After nearly 2 months of review, the Vietnamese students set off for Spain with excitement and confidence to achieve the best results.

Tran Duc Tri, a 10th grade student at Park City International School ( Hanoi ), excelled in achieving top 1 in Science and top 2 in Information Technology - the best achievement in Vietnam's 5 years of participating in the International STEM Olympiad.

After 3 days of competition, students and teachers also participated in a trip to France and visited famous scenic spots and science museums.

In the Mathematics exam, the Vietnamese team achieved the following results:

- Top 3 International belongs to student Dao Le Minh (Class 7A2, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, HCMC)

- 1 Gold medal: Student Pham Son Tung (Class 11B5 - Vinschool The Harmony, Hanoi)

- 2 Silver Medals: Student Pham Ngoc Dong Phong (Class 8.6, Wellspring Bilingual School, Hanoi); student Nguyen Duc Khai Nguyen (Class 4B03, Vinschool The Harmony, Hanoi)

- 3 Bronze medals: Student Do Minh Huy (Grade 10, Dinh Thien Ly Secondary and High School, HCMC); student Nguyen Bao Ngoc (Grade 6HS1, Hanoi Adelaide School); student Nguyen Phuc An (Grade 8A12, Le Quy Don Secondary School, Hanoi)

For the Science exam, the Vietnamese team achieved the following results:

- Top 1 International belongs to student Do Minh Huy (Grade 10, Dinh Thien Ly Secondary and High School, Ho Chi Minh City)

- Top 3 International belongs to student Pham Son Tung (Class 11B5 - Vinschool The Harmony, Hanoi)

- 1 Gold medal: Student Dao Le Minh (Class 7A2 - Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, HCMC)

- 1 Silver Medal: Student Nguyen Duc Khai Nguyen (Class 4B03 - Vinschool The Harmony, Hanoi)

For the Informatics exam, the Vietnamese team achieved the following results:

- 2 Gold medals: Student Pham Ngoc Dong Phong (Class 8.6, Wellspring Bilingual School); student Nguyen Phuc An (Class 8A12, Le Quy Don Secondary School, Hanoi).
