Proposal to expand the area of ​​Danang University Urban Area

GD&TĐ - On October 28, the Ministry of Education and Training worked with the People's Committee of Da Nang on the Da Nang University Urban Area Project in the direction of adjusting the area from 300 hectares to 558 hectares.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Le Tan Dung and Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung chaired the meeting. The parties agreed on many important contents to promote the progress of the Da Nang University Urban Area Investment Project. In particular, they agreed to propose the Government to adjust the planning of the Da Nang University Urban Area from 300ha to 558ha.

According to the report of Danang University, the adjustment of the master plan is identified as an urgent step, to meet the requirements of university education development in the new context and in line with the policy of building Danang into a center of knowledge, science and technology of the whole country.

The new plan is expected to expand the Danang University Urban Area to about 558 hectares, an increase of more than 250 hectares compared to the plan approved by the Prime Minister in 2020.

The urban area will be linked with the southern innovation zone of the city, forming an ecosystem for research, startups and training of high-quality human resources.

Total investment capital for the 2026 - 2030 period is estimated at more than 14,200 billion VND, mobilized from the budget and socialized sources.

At the meeting, Danang University proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training and the City People's Committee agree on a comprehensive adjustment plan and submit it to the Prime Minister for approval; at the same time, it proposed decentralizing the right to adjust the planning to Danang to ensure proactiveness. In addition, Danang University requested the city to support site clearance, resettlement arrangements and investment in technical infrastructure to serve the implementation phase.

Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung affirmed that the Ministry of Education and Training will closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to complete the dossier and soon submit it to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval of planning adjustments.

The Deputy Minister requested the City People's Committee and Da Nang University to continue to accompany and ensure the progress and quality of the project, aiming to develop an open, modern, internationally integrated university education system, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources for the Central Highlands region.

Mr. Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, affirmed that the Da Nang government is committed to accompanying and creating favorable conditions for the Da Nang University Urban Area project to be implemented soon, especially in site clearance, resettlement arrangement and mobilizing resources for infrastructure investment.

The People's Committee of Da Nang City assigned relevant departments and branches to closely coordinate with Da Nang University to develop a detailed plan, ensure the rights of people in the project area and complete procedures according to regulations.

The planning adjustment is a strategic task, contributing to the formation of a modern university-innovation urban space, promoting Da Nang to become a smart city, an educational, scientific and technological center of the country.

The University of Danang aims to be among the top 150 universities in Asia, have at least one major group in the top 100 universities in the world; create 50 start-up businesses each year and attract at least 50 million USD for research and technology. These are the tasks assigned according to the Central's conclusions on science - technology development and innovation.
