In the 54th UPU International Letter Writing Competition 2025, Pham Doan Minh Khue, a 10th-grade student from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, represented Vietnam and won second prize.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, congratulated and praised the achievements of the Education sector, the collective of Le Quy Don Specialized High School, Ms. Do Thi Cam Nhung - the supervising teacher, and student Pham Doan Minh Khue.
With the theme "Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should take good care of and protect you," Pham Doan Minh Khue chose the ocean as her character and sent a letter to director James Cameron. In the letter, Khue, as the ocean, suggested that the film's script should focus on the ocean's wounds, but no one listened. From the Mariana Trench, a mysterious signal echoed, a mournful sound like the ocean weeping. The signal was decoded, carrying a terrifying message: "I am dying. If you do not act, humanity will perish."
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan believes that this is a proud achievement, not only contributing to affirming the position of Da Nang in particular and Vietnam in general on the world knowledge map, but also demonstrating and spreading the love and responsibility of today's young generation towards the ocean.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his hope that in the coming time, the Education sector will continue to contribute ideas and advise the city on further development, and that schools, teachers, and families will continue to pay attention to and support students in their studies, develop their abilities, and achieve even better results and achievements in teaching and learning.
According to Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan, Director of the Department of Education and Training, in the 2024-2025 school year, with the attention of leaders at all levels, the city's education and training sector achieved many proud results; in addition to maintaining and improving the quality of comprehensive education, many students from the city achieved outstanding results in international competitions, notably: 1 Second Prize at the International Science and Engineering Fair; 3 Gold Medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad; 1 Bronze Medal at the European Physics Olympiad; 1 Gold Medal and 1 Bronze Medal at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad.
At the awards ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan presented Certificates of Commendation from the City People's Committee to Pham Doan Minh Khue and her supervising teacher Do Thi Cam Nhung to recognize their outstanding achievements and dedication to the cause of education.
On this occasion, Da Nang International Airport Terminal Investment and Exploitation Joint Stock Company awarded a prize worth 25 million VND to Pham Doan Minh Khue.
