Da Nang rewards students for their achievements at the UPU International Letter Writing Competition

In the 54th UPU International Letter Writing Competition in 2025, Pham Doan Minh Khue, a 10C student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, represented Vietnamese students and won second prize.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee congratulated and commended the achievements of the Education sector, the collective of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Ms. Do Thi Cam Nhung - instructor and student Pham Doan Minh Khue.

With the theme “Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should take good care of you”, Pham Doan Minh Khue chose the ocean to play the role and sent a letter to director James Cameron. In the letter, Khue, as the ocean, suggested that the film script was about the ocean’s wounds but no one listened. From the Mariana Trench, a mysterious signal rang out, the sound was sad as if the ocean was crying. The signal was decoded, carrying the terrifying message “I am dying. If you do not act, humanity will end”.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan said that this is a proud result, not only contributing to affirming the position of Da Nang in particular and Vietnam in general on the world knowledge map but also demonstrating and spreading the love and responsibility of today's young generation towards the ocean.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that in the coming time, the Education sector will continue to give advice and counsel for the city to further develop, and schools, teachers, and families will continue to pay attention and support students to study, develop their abilities, and achieve better results and achievements in teaching and learning.

Director of the Department of Education and Training Le Thi Bich Thuan said that in the 2024-2025 school year, with the attention of leaders at all levels, the city's education and training sector has achieved many proud results; in addition to maintaining and improving the quality of comprehensive education. Many students of the city have achieved excellent results in international competitions, such as: 1 Second Prize at the International Science and Technology Competition; 3 Gold Medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad; 1 Bronze Medal at the European Physics Olympiad; 1 Gold Medal and 1 Bronze Medal at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad.

At the commendation ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan awarded the City People's Committee's Certificate of Merit to Pham Doan Minh Khue and instructor Do Thi Cam Nhung in recognition of their outstanding achievements and dedication to the education cause.

On this occasion, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company awarded a prize worth 25 million VND to Pham Doan Minh Khue.
