According to the expected announcement of regular university enrollment of the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), in 2026 the school will not only be steadfast in its policy of not using academic records in admission but will also not directly admit candidates who have won national and international science and technology awards.

In 2026, VNU University of Technology will continue to enroll 20 training majors with 4,020 targets, remaining stable compared to the previous year, with 3 admission methods: considering the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam, considering the competency assessment exam (HSA) organized by VNU, considering the international competency assessment certificate SAT.

With the method of considering high school graduation exam results, most majors use 3 main admission combinations: A00 (math, physics, chemistry), A01 (math, physics, English) and X06 (math, physics, IT). For the two majors of biotechnology and agricultural technology, the school added combination A02 (math, physics, biology).
Thus, in 2026, the school will reduce the admission combination, leaving only the A group combinations (math, physics, chemistry/English/IT/biology), no longer the B00 (math, chemistry, biology) and D01 (math, literature, English) combinations like this year.
For direct admission, the school follows the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, but does not consider candidates who have won science and technology awards. The direct admission quota is focused on giving priority to students who have won awards in math, physics, chemistry, and information technology for all majors, and adding biology for the two majors of biotechnology and agricultural technology.
VNU University of Technology is currently a top university of engineering and technology. In 2025, the school will have 14/20 majors with a benchmark score of 25 or higher, of which the highest major will have 28.19 points (on a 30-point scale ).
According to school statistics, out of a total of 4,111 new students enrolled in the 2025-2026 school year, 95% of candidates scored 24 points or higher; 90% scored 25 points or higher; 82% scored 26 points or higher and 61% scored 27 points or higher.
