The ranking is the largest ever, with 1,529 higher education institutions from 25 countries and territories in Asia ranked, with 558 higher education institutions appearing in the ranking for the first time.
The university rankings are based on an analysis of responses from more than 1.5 million academics and 520,000 employers worldwide. Quacquarelli Symonds also analyzed more than 200 million citations from 19.8 million scientific publications.
The results of VNU Hanoi in this ranking period are thanks to clear improvements in highly weighted criteria groups, directly reflecting the quality of training and research.

In terms of reputation and training quality, the two most important criteria, academic reputation (weight 30%) and recruitment reputation (weight 20%), both increased strongly in rank, ranking 122nd (up 14 places) and 128th (up 9 places) respectively.
This affirms that the quality of research and training of VNU Hanoi is highly appreciated by the international academic community and employers.
Research quality and capacity are clearly demonstrated through the ranking criteria of international research network, when VNU Hanoi rose 14 places to enter the top 75 universities in Asia.
Mr. Hoang Minh Son, Director of VNU Hanoi, said that together with other Vietnamese universities, VNU Hanoi is well aware that to catch up with the world's leading universities, it is necessary to make efforts in innovating the governance model, improving the quality of training and research, expanding international cooperation and promoting quality integration.
With the expansion of the QS AUR 2026 rankings, Vietnam has 25 ranked educational institutions, including 8 schools participating for the first time. Among the representatives ranked in the previous period, 7 representatives improved their rankings, 1 educational institution remained the same and 9 educational institutions dropped in their rankings.
