Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a strategic driving force in global education. To ensure Vietnamese education doesn't fall behind, solutions are needed to develop AI capabilities in learners, contributing to an innovative, creative, and responsible education system.

On October 28th, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with Meta Group, the Vietnam Association for Scientific and Technological Information, and One World Magazine, organized a workshop titled “Developing Artificial Intelligence Capabilities for Learners - Towards an Innovative, Creative, and Responsible Education System”.

The workshop serves as a forum for sharing knowledge and experience from managers, experts, researchers, lecturers, and representatives of technology companies on developing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for learners.

In his opening remarks at the workshop, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an inseparable part of life, requiring the education system to proactively equip learners with the capacity to use and co-create it responsibly, effectively, and ethically.

According to him, integrating AI learning objectives into the formal education curriculum is essential to help students and faculty access AI safely, meaningfully, and to be ready to adapt to a rapidly transforming digital society.

The speakers focused on analyzing the context and current state of artificial intelligence (AI) application among learners, proposing an AI competency framework for the national education system, and clarifying the role of education in forming the right skills and attitudes towards artificial intelligence. Several speakers emphasized the importance of integrating artificial intelligence into training programs.

Many solutions, policies, and models aimed at effectively developing AI capabilities for learners, from primary to higher education, were discussed. Issues of ethics, safety, and sustainability when applying AI in education were also addressed by experts and researchers at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Minh Son, Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi , stated that in its development strategy until 2030, with a vision to 2045, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, identifies artificial intelligence as one of the important pillars for innovating university governance, improving the quality of training, and promoting interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral scientific research.

Hanoi National University aims to build a comprehensive artificial intelligence ecosystem where scientists, lecturers, and students can learn together, create together, and contribute AI solutions to serve the sustainable development of the country.

On this occasion, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities also introduced the Artificial Intelligence Competency Framework for students to support learners and the university. The document is published as open access. Users can update and edit the content to create derivative products.
